I like when gaming companies nerf things by a small amount at a time so things don’t go from S tier to D tier overnight. That being said, the 20% nerf to WOG and a 3xJudgementConduit heavy nerf should have happened week one, followed by another 20% WOG nerf week two and then things would be ok.

Instead, more than two months after launch, they get a minuscule nerf that will not change the meta in any way, and Rets will still make their entire team unkillable for 10minutes while randomly casino-slot-machine killing people from full HP in 2 globals.

Really wish we had some good game developers at the wheel, but oh well.

Hand of the protector, and Healing hands talent probably make this nerf not really noticeable

The 20% damp change tho is also coming into effect. Sonits more like 40%

Now when you get WOGed you go from 20% to 100% instead of 20% to 100%.

good change.

Needs a 30% buff against mage players tbh

Why are ppl complaining if changes aren’t even live yet?

/confused

WoG healing hands was nerfed from 200% to 100% week one, followed by another stealth nerf from 100% to 70% that only applies in PvP a few weeks later. So this 20% nerf to Ret WoG is actually the 3rd nerf for Ret, however it is the first time any of that effects Prot.

Also… divine toll was nerfed / capped at 3 judgments in PvP instead of the potential 4 that can happen in PvE.

The more you know right?

Almost like the core concept of Healing Hands / Hand of the Protector is toxic, impossible to balance, and has no place in the game.

I’m not really sure why Prot’s has remained at 250% this entire time. Seems like a massive oversight especially since the “PvP only” tech was used on Ret, so as not to remove it from PvE.

It’s strange logic all around by blizzard tbh, rewarding bad players for waiting to long to heal a partner but get bonus healing because their hp was very low. :man_shrugging:

Prot needed more than 20% yeah, if they nerfed healing hands for ret instead of regular wog most of us would’ve went for selfless healer.

It’s healing hands that make it as good as it is currently

All I “know” is that all Pally specs will still be running and ruining the game even after these minor non-nerfs tomorrow. Pally meta is trash meta, as it’s the Demon Hunter of Healers. Can’t wait for another AWC of Hpal on every team making every game go 10+ min and Ret teams WOGing every go making the game unwinnable for the other team in a cheesy boring uncounterable way.

This season is trash and the only people enjoying it are FoTM rerollers clinging to the very limited way of success they can find in this game.

I feel like that is just inevitable at this point tho…everyone multi classes in PVE and PVP. Back when there was OP comps at least you didn’t have to fight them every game because there weren’t really a lot of rerollers.

This.

This will change a lot for prot/ret.

Looked to me like mages/boomkins/WW/Wars were the best.

It’s only inevitable when Activision fails to balance their game with small tuning changes often, it could very well be inevitable, as Activision seems to be the slowest game developers to make needed changes. Most good video games don’t allow their games meta to be stale and bad for months on end, but looking back to BFA, the awful state of Shadowlands shouldn’t surprise me.

I don’t think it’s impossible to balance, I think they’re just trying too hard to keep the numbers similar in PvE/PvP. +100% healing in PvE makes WoG still barely worth using outside truly dire emergencies, because the group always has a healer, the healer doesn’t get stunlocked, and DPS checks exist; +70% healing in PvP makes it utterly amazing and you spam it all the time.

Likewise, Hand of the Protector is kind of a niche talent for Prot PvE because you need that resource to not die while tanking, but in PvP it just makes you a full-on healer.

If these talents were like +30% in PvP, instead of +70% for Ret or an absurd +250% for prot, they’d be fine. Or if they remained beefy but had some kind of restriction (cooldown? mana? need to build charges? something?), that would work too. As-is, they’re hilariously far-and-away better than the other options on their row.
