20 Man Killed My Guild

I am a guild master, my guild has 3, soon 4 20man groups. I have seen my closest WoW friends stress over roster boss before, I have put in effort to prepare my guild for this issue in multiple ways. Creating plans to deviate issues such as this. Working with other guilds and even helping them fill and vice versa as needed.

20man, in my opinion, is a good idea. It is a nice balance of epic size and proportion that allows a few people to fumble but not too many so that you need to be decently reliable while also not stressing those behind the scenes too much with so many opportunities of call offs.

I actually agree. In this case its mostly people not expecting/looking to raid at the moment but willing to. It is how some of my raid leaders have managed to make things work.

was easy fix last phase with rogue being dogwater, just bench myself

I do plenty to help out my current guild. What in the world are you smoking?

HAH! I feel that. I’ve currently benched myself as I was on hiatus the entire phase 2. But prepping to join one of the raid teams whenever they lose a dps spot. I don’t want to come into a raid group already at 60 cap and be like “I r big GM I r get corrupted ash!” out of no where lol.

Then your guild deserved to die. Unfortunate.

Then perish.

What people domt understand is season of discovery is built into the wow classic client, which when it released had full 40 man endgame raids. So of course the emdgame is still going to be 40 man raids. They made 10 amd 20 to appease those who came from retail, amd probably are gping to stick with 20 amd 40 in phase 4 and 5

Era is not normal Classic guys.

And what would that conversation be? It’s pretty cut and dry. Less people bosses have less hp and give less loot, more people more boss health and more loot.

No we saw it coming, we tried recruiting and didn’t like our results so we quit. 10 Mans were the main reason I started playing SoD and almost all of my guildmates agree, we don’t like raiding in retail because of rotations, boss mechanics, and just in general not enjoying retail. SoD gave us a way to enjoy classic without being burdened by an extra 30 people slogging down raid times and not lining up schedules.

For the record I am not against 20 mans, I just think it was a bad move to make a great product then pull it out from underneath us, even if we were warned they were going to pull it out.

Cope harder.

No way, really?! It was built on a classic client!

I don’t care what era was designed for in 2004… it’s 2024 and this isn’t true era, this is SoD… 10 and 25 mans come from CLASSIC, stop trying to use retail as a fail safe for everything.

Go, you die on that hill and if they believe 40-mans are play, then we’ll see how negatively that outlook effects them.

Our guild managed to mostly have enough people but the true culprit is I think people’s interest in SoD is just starting to lessen in certain groups.

SoD was appealing to our guild because it was something to just kill time with while we were farming ICC. Problem is instead of just being something we can throw together its getting large enough you need to actively manage it, and that’s not what we got into SoD for.

Add on top of that no one is enjoying the Incursion mess, and people are growing tired of needing help/helping with runes. I mean I just logged in, looked at what I needed to go get and just logged back out. I just don’t care enough to waste that much time on something that will not be enjoyable to start with.

ITT: 10 man guilds crying they couldn’t possibly field a 20 man team and refusing to merge with another 10 man guild in the same situation.

If you read my other posts, you would see we did try that.

My guild discord is pretty dead. We got 3 running groups of main character type A personalities and every group is always looking for 3-4 people to fill out every raid come raid time

I’m a blue parser and I’ve been effectively overlooked because of my busy spring work schedule for Chinese players who aren’t social.

WoW players in SoD are hard to figure out. I don’t understand why some play seeing as a lot don’t seek interaction outside their original P1 and P2 raids.

Having to meld groups IMHO was not considered by blizz. They just said ‘20 man!’ as if it’s a good thing. Not sure why they wanted to strain people who want to play casually but that’s all it did.

20 mans suck. The tighter culture of 10mans is best

I really feel this is why 10 man is better. Its what leads to tank shortages in all content. Unless of course the planned 20/40 man raids are going to require multiple tanks but im doubtful that happens.

Hey my guild is a part of that coalition on LL! But yes theres going to be some dead guilds if they push this 40 man nonsense as its relatively difficult to recruit for 40 man raids. Those “we have X ST clear team” recruitments do work as well which sucks more because it funnels players into mega guilds like Great Tomb on LL. Not only that mergers are still difficult, you have clashing personalities, raid times, people not wanting to merge etc etc. Its just messy, coalition fixes this mostly but its not a permanent solution most of the time.

Honestly do hope, if anything, we keep it at 20m if they wont reduce back down to 10m. That way we can still have a good raid group of fellow players and friends instead of coworkers we barely know outside of raid. Also I’m part of Sanctuary, Aracy. Hope to see you out there!

This is on the leadership.

During phase 1 I was with a guild that literally would invite anyone because it was led by streamers that just didn’t care.

Phase 1 wasn’t hard, but soon as they advertised as MS/OS they attracted people who were just going to raid a couple times, take loot then leave.

Constant revolving door.

it stops at 30 for some reason.
