2 week ban for no reason?

Dude, just file the appeal.

IF this is a ban wave, you should probably give it a few hours then appeal. False positives can happen and they will need some time to figure that out then they can overturn false ones.

If I miss raid I get dropped from the guild that I spent the last 4 months trying to get in. Thatā€™s in an hour and a half. Iā€™m done with this.

We get your point, Iā€™d personally try talking to your guild, explain you had an issue, and hope they understand.

Unfortunately this forum canā€™t really help with your guild status, only provide information on how to appeal your current suspension.

Yeah I getchu. Even if I was guildless I would still be 2 weeks behind on gearing so thereā€™s no way Iā€™ll be able to push 100 parses. Take care guys.

No, there really isnā€™t. We do have some systems in place that do take some actions automatically, but they arenā€™t really what you are referring to and have zero to do with this action, which was applied manually after an investigation.

Generally, that means doing something in-game that normally cannot be done without some kind of exploitation.

Well, since the expansion reveal was just yesterday, and no date announced for launch, or even beta-testing, I think itā€™s safe to say that your 2-week suspension wonā€™t interfere.

Just curious if Blizzard was transparent about the bug? Was it posted somewhere everyone would see the message? Like on the Battle.net sign inā€¦ you know, where they send you messages about maintenance and what not. At least warn people, and say itā€™s being fixed, and any further abuses after the note would be punishable.

People may not have realized there was any problem to begin with. Which would make it unfair to the unsuspecting to be banned.

If you know you can lets say only use two legendary items and some how you manage to use 3. Well Then doing so might just end with this kind of action. Do you really need a warning not to do something like this?

Thatā€™s the point. You donā€™t know. There are people who come back to the game after several months away or years, theyā€™re just getting back into the swing of things, and anyone can make mistakes.

This is why something like this should be highlighted and warned about.

I think I missed something here. What bug specifically? I know of one recently that was talked about but not if Blizz took action.

The rule of thumb is if something gives you a big advantage and you know it should not be happening, donā€™t do it.

Blizzard does not announce bugs that can be exploited. They fix them then determine how widely it was used, what impact it had, and if it should result in an exploitation penalty.

The info was out there in the wild which is how people learned about it and engaged in it. It was not something you could accidentally do.

The only people who did this looked up HOW and then engaged in it.

Yeah this was not something unsuspecting people did.

IF that is what this is about, it was not accidental.

Also, please donā€™t accuse the OP as we have no idea if this was what happened or even if Blizzard took action against it.

Thing is, there could be many exploits. Do you expect to be warned of them all?

Generally an exploit might include several deliberate steps. Often itā€™s not as ā€˜unwittingā€™ as youā€™d like to think they are. Most people exploiting are well aware of their actions - even if theyā€™re prepared to deny it completely.

It really depends on the situation, Khastatia. No, we do not generally warn that X or Y is an exploit, donā€™t use them, while the bug itself is being addressed. We find advertising the issue attracts those to try it. Which is definitely not something we want.

In most situations we try to give the benefit of the doubt when it comes to those who may encounter an exploitative bug, but it depends on the bug/exploit itself.

For many of the explolits/bugs that you can actively take advantage of to receive something, like more loot, gold, power, experience, etcā€¦ it is fairly obvious. If you do it once or twice, is isnā€™t usually isnā€™t that big of a deal. It is normal to encounter an odd situation and go, ā€œdid that really just happen?ā€

Receiving something through a trivial amount of effort is generally obvious though, so when it is done more than just a few times, that is when it can get complicated.

There are other exploits where just the process of getting it to happen is itself extremely unlikely to randomly happened upon.

Our teams take all of this into account.

Now, since exploitation really isnā€™t an appropriate subject for the forums Iā€™m going to lock this one up Thanks, all.
