This assumes that you are working there for more then a year and don’t get sacked in Q4 so the Execs can get a bigger year end bonus.
Yeah it’s sort of dirty because they actually have to put how much the job pays in California and new York, but they usually will put a range to it that way they can get around that loophole.
I can believe it.
We do know he is an active user here still on an alt.
So it checks out imo
Not surprising sadly, they run off exploiting passion and they’ve done so for many years now. Even within the games industry (which is notoriously bad for low job salaries) they’re one of the worst out there.
16 dollars an hr lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
I think he’s superman
A Range that Large is beyond dity. I build Gaming Rigs/Repair Them. We have a range too for new hires. Its $25-30/hr. A very realistic range that is quite transparent of what the pay rate is.
But $15-30/hr? thats insane! I can almost guarantee you that no one is at the top of that range starting. If they were; they would not need a window that large to cover their legal rears
Still more than I got paid as an entry level test analyst. I think it was a year and a half of unpaid internships before I got my first paying gig. Even then it was contracted and I got paid when the contract ended. Took 3 months to even see a check.
some fast food areas have machines that takes orders there just need machines to cook food right then its down hill from there
Exactly.
Eventually the human element in most industries will be done away with in favor of automative efficiency, and life will smack more meaningless yet than e’er 'twere before.
Blizz still paying absolute crap, I see.
Did they mention that it is more likely a contract position so they do not have to pay any benefits or that you will be more than likely tossed out in 6 months? I know several people that once had this job at blizzard.
$16 an hour, depending on the location, for an entry level position isn’t horrible in many cases. A lot of people with no education, no experience, and no marketable skills seem to think they deserve great pay just because.
Efficiency? Is that really the word to use? Lets be real here. Its efficient for no one except the company’s Bank account. It often does nothing but make things more annoying or complex for your customers/consumers.
Prime Example? The computer you talk to when you call literally any company
Cheaper, has no biological functions to consider, has no rights to consider, can’t complain, it’s better in every way but providing people something to do for money.
Yes, I would say it’s more efficient.
Then it’s efficient, and that alone is good enough for the people putting money down on it.
I lived in SE Kansas in a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath, attached garage, on 1/4 acre home that I bought for $70k in 2003. I sold it last year for $150k, so it really depends on where you live. I wonder if they’re including escrow in that figure?
No, debt is not the issue. Not by a long shot.
$16/hour is not in any way an adequate match to the rate of inflation in general over the last half a century, let alone the absurd housing costs we’ve landed at in just the last few years. If the federal minimum wage had risen with inflation since about 1970, we’d be around $24/hour - that’s a 50% increase to what we’re seeing here. The minimum wage is meant to be the minimum necessary to reasonably live and provide, and $16/hour is only two-thirds of that when just factoring for inflation.
Full time at $16/hour is $2560/month. It’s impossible to find rent in my suburban area below $1600/month for a simple 1-2 bedroom apartment, with most being upwards of $1800/month; this is on par with the ~$1700/month average nationwide. Taxes typically take at least 20%, whether up front, or come April. All of a sudden you’re looking at less than $400 a month for utilities, groceries, gas, etc., let alone actually putting money away for the future or emergencies. And god forbid you have children. It’s just not enough. Period.
Debt has nothing to do with $16/hour not being enough for the vast majority of Americans to adequately survive on.
Citation needed and that this is somehow relevant to anything.
If that’s in office eh…
If it’s work from home ok! It has my interest
$15-$30 an hour is actually a crazy range, it’s like saying “come on in, you might get twice as much or half as much as someone else who’s doing the same job as you!”
It is in my area. And it’s what I was paid as a 911 dispatcher.
