Where does it say $16?
I work in software QA and my first, fresh out of college with no experience, entry level QA position payed around $23/hour. 10 years ago.
So $16 still strikes me as junk pay even with no experience.
The real question is how many hours a week is it.
A lot of places will say they have Health Insurance but then only allow you to work 39 hours a week, making you part-time so you don’t qualify.
I think the Burger King down the road from my house is hiring for like $22.50.
God i love not being american XD
That’s
… a huuuge range.
Blizzard swag doesn’t pay rent.
Yup…the OP is being a bit misleading on the topic. The minimum pay is the US average and does not indicate how much they will actually get paid in California.
In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $16.62 - $30.77 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location.
Zuma being misleading? No never
Even if you were making $30 an hour you only bring home 48k after taxes, not including benefits and 401k.
You’re still living in poverty
They’ll probably offer a slight bump in salary from whatever your last job was. So if you were making $25/hour, they’ll offer $27/hour. But don’t expect it to be $31/hour, although you could probably negotiate for something like that if you have experience.
We’re Americans, if we are working we are living in poverty. The only ones who aren’t are the ones who own us.
Even at the upper end that is 60k annually for a job that requires:
-a 4 year degree
-at least 3 years of experience
-special certifications
-living in a very high cost of living area
And that’s at the very top of the range. Yeesh.
I bring home 70k after taxes, without including benefits and I’m not in poverty in Florida. Because my state doesn’t have state income tax.
Local cost of living factors into that as well. Miami is the only part of Florida that even comes close to California.
Lend me some money rich mon
You guys bringing up the range are missing the point:
-
It’s in the company’s best interest to try and pay you as low on the totem pole as they can justify. Using the range also banks on the company caring enough for experience and whatever other criteria they have to matter, but if they cared that much to the point where no one they hired would be making the minimum that $16 wouldn’t be anywhere on the offer to begin with and the floor would start much higher.
-
No salary range should have a floor so low that it’s poverty level with a ceiling that’s barely above board. Especially not for a QA position at such a big and prestigious company.
Blizzard has a pretty colored history when it comes to underpaying their employees, but this posting seems to be exclusively bad.
Job Posting mentions the average US salary range for this role
