$16 an hour, starting, to be a test analyst for WoW

This is California. You are better off working for a “Fast Food Restaurant.”

Where does it say starting salary is $16?
It says in the US the the base pay for this role is $16.62 - $30.77 hourly based on experience. That doesn’t mean they’re only offering $16 an hour.

It’s awful for requiring you to live in a city where $30 an hour puts you in low income and you can’t even afford an apartment (Those are supposed to be to help you save for a house btw)

its awful even for the state i live in. store managers make more than that. it’s pathetic.
also the actual range is:
$16.62 - $30.77
which op appears to have left out.

It’s trash because its the minimum pay for a position with a 16.62 - 30.77 pay range…and that is based on the average pay for that job across the entire United States. Also, the Senior Test Analyst Pays 19.23 - 35.58 an hour, and the Test Lead pays 49,600 - 91,760 a year.

So I doubt they are going to be paying the minimum in California, and if they do, they won’t get many applicants.

thats mcdonalds wage lol

Open the blizzard career link, which is posted up above by someone.

That’s also how they base your pay fresh out college… Someone with experience yeah I believe they’re getting 22-30+ an hour

I’m not sure why anyone would choose this job. Absolutely 0 job security for Blizzard QA lmao

Blizzard historically had bad pay. But at that salary don’t know how anyone could afford a roof over their head plus commuting to work plus food, especially if the job were in California.

I will say that the $16 quote is a bit misleading. The job posting says the wages are $16.62 to $30.77 based on experience.

So even if someone was going to make $16.62 an hour, they would have to barely meet the minimum requirements of the role, and even then, it’s pretty common to get at least a slight boost from the bottom of the pay bracket.

I feel like you should really include all the info in your post. Such as how youre only mentioning the very lowest in the bracket they are offering and not how they list that they might pay nearly double.

This is true for a lot of the game industry in general. Things have been improving at some companies, but it was horrible in the earlier years all across the industry.

Why would someone out of college get $30 an hour? Maybe someone with years of experience and has the bonuses requirements they listed I understand.

The $16, or sorry, $17 makes sense why there’s no feedback whenever a patch comes out of ptr

The job description is looking for someone with 3 years experience.
It is not a graduate listing.

For a test analyst?! That is outrageously low!

I work as a test analyst. Even with the conversion from aussie dollars to ameribucks I earn literally twice as much. And I work for a not for profit!

Obvious answer…to compete with the easier jobs that pay close to the same.

Why wouldn’t they if anything else is too low?
Youre the one who set the bar haha
