1.12 AV is a huge, huge mistake

yea i was referring to actual vanilla AV as it happened on the day of release. your experience later would be entirely different yep

Oh ok, my mistake. I didn’t play until way later (but before 1.12) where (seemingly) a lot of that was still present, but I really really had a lot of fun with it. I’m sure by that time people actually knew what they were doing and were geared better.

Bring back epic AV!

Completely agree with OP. I want AV to be the hours / days / weeks long EPIC struggle it was. I absolutely loved the war that raged in that BG for most of classic. I truly want it back again!

Some of my best memories are from epic long AV games… Don’t do this Blizzard. Give us old AV! It really was magical.

Of all the things they “took the liberty to change and go against what we really had at vanilla” this is by far the WORST offender. I don’t even want to step inside it as it stands. Pretty disappointed about this.

Blizz: I think to make up for this horrendous launch, you should give us 1.0 AV.

Well that pretty much drowns classic for me. Working full time and often getting the graveyard shift with mandatory overtime i don’t have the time to commit to raiding. Thus i was hoping for the good old days of Alterac Valley.

So if i’m understanding it correctly we’re getting to rush boss to boss one ?

Holy crap I hope it’s not 1.12 version of AV.

I think we should do some kind of petition to get blizz attention…

I agree so much I had to say so while I’m here on the toilet.

Agree. Game is dukie easy.

I grinded AV to Exalted to get my 60 mount and the weapons. This was the most fun version of a rep grind, most likely ever implemented in WoW, I’m fully confident in that statement.

I’m not sure they even know what they had with old school AV, it’s like a Warfront before Warfronts.

Except the reinforcements were added during 2.3.0…

Go to the Alterac Valley page on wowwiki…

Check down the bottom for the list of changes

Blockquote * The Horde and Alliance now have a limited number of reinforcements available in the battle for Alterac Valley. The number of reinforcements available is reduced upon player death, loss of towers, and death of Captain Galvangar or Balinda Stonehearth. In addition, all available reinforcements are lost upon the death of General Drek’Thar or Vanndar Stormpike. If a team is reduced to zero reinforcements, the opposing team wins the battle.

Literally that is from the wiki for patch 2.3.0… A Burning Crusade patch…

The person you quoted didn’t mention reinforcements at all.

There are plenty of things about 1.12’s version of AV that many in this thread have expressed disappointment over. There are some who think this -is- the version of AV with reinforcements, but that is far from the only argument against 1.12 being espoused here. I’d say it’s a minority, honestly.

I agree I want the old AV where we can use the quest / NPC to actually do progress AV

That was the whole point of them bringing battle for arathi in bfa right?

Yes, please Bizzard, no 1.12 AV. The old AV was easily my best memory from vanilla and that’s saying something.
