Then go play the fast version that’s been available for over a decade. Guess what version the people who WANT that have? Oh, none, and NEVER will have a version we want while you “I don’t have time to play a MMORPG but I’m going to play a MMORPG then whine I don’t have time to play it until Blizzard completely redesigns the genre for me” player base has had quick AV for over a decade.
Also, this is “CLASSIC” WOW, this is a time capsule back into the past, to play a version of the game that was long lost. We should be getting the most CLASSIC version of AV, not the most MODERN. This isn’t “The most convenient accessible version of Vanilla” servers, this is CLASSIC WoW servers.
This argument makes no sense and honestly angers me.
Do they though? I don’t think anyone is legitimately saying 1.12 AV is the classic AV people remember from vanilla. People seem to just be arguing about Blizzard not having the data to go back, #nochanges 1.12 is what we’re getting, and other weak arguments.
I just want to reexperience original AV once. Please. That’s all I’m asking. They could release 1.12 for classic launch but bring in the original for a weekend event or brought in as a separate BG or SOMETHING. There HAS to be some kind of compromise so that the people that really desperately desire the original AV can.
Please Blizzard, listen to those that care.
1.12 AV is not what the people who want to play Classic PVP want.
We want CLASSIC AV, not what we can already play now.
Classic AV was the only thing CLOSE to Southshore/Taren Mill fights in open world.
You clearly didn’t play Vanilla. Try forming a group and finishing Wailing Caverns or any other dungeon. It could take 30 minutes just to get everyone in front of the instance. Sorry you can’t run through a dungeon in full heirlooms chain pulling the whole thing in less than 20 minutes in classic.
At this point this is the thing people should be focusing on. Most of us have been die-hard fans of World of Warcraft for 15 years! This is Blizzard’s legacy and right now they’re trashing it. They should have a little dignity it’s not always about the money.
And it’s not always about what YOU want. What about everyone from classic that preferred AV after the changes to it? Does their opinion just not matter?
No didn’t you get the memo, the only possible way to enjoy AV post 1.11 is to rush to get gear and that’s the only reason anyone would ever play it. There can’t possible be any other reason why people would prefer 1.11+ AV, anyone who claims they actually prefer the map with less NPC’s and more pvp is simply lying.
The only people who prefer the AV in place in the beta now are those using it on it’s weekend to farm honor and only want quick wins, not to have a battle. The rest of us who join AV to have epic and lengthy battles are stuck in rushes to the end thanks to Blizzard using the latest version. I know I will personally be back-capping graveyards to force a turtle as much as I can. I personally play AV for the big (nearly) 40v40 battles, not for quick honor. Those wanting the current AV are only wanting it for the quick wins, not because it is more fun than the previous version(s).
Correct, when I said “current AV” I meant the version on the beta at the moment. That version is technically the current version in BFA as well with some minor adjustments (such as reinforcements removed). So, I view it as the laziest implementation for Blizzard to take what they have and change as little as possible to make it 1.12 like.
I don’t mean minor as in game-play wise, I mean coding wise. Removing a new win condition from AV is likely easier than I am thinking. I come from Warcraft 3 Editor, so I know they have their own version for WoW that has had 15 years of polish. Removing the reinforcements probably took 1 programmer 30 minutes or less. 5 minutes to load the editor and remove the condition, 25 minutes to test it a bit.
I think you may be misunderstanding my stance. I want AV how it was when it first released with more NPCs, resource nodes around, ability to fish, etc. The first version of AV felt like an open-world full zone inside of an instance. You could go fish for a few minutes, then join in a major battle, then go defend some points, etc. It had so much more going for it in my opinion. I’m sure some will disagree, but I feel those who disagree only want AV for a quick win to rank up, not to play the game.
Okay, my point may have been misunderstood. What I mean by “minor adjustments” is the developers took BFA’s version and with some minor adjustments to the win conditions and the NPC data, they call that the WoW Classic version 1.12 of AV when I view it as a lazy way to go with as much as they currently have and just strip enough away to make it look like it was in patch 1.12. I say it is the lazy way because it isn’t what shouts vanilla to lots of players (including me). Instead, it is BFA’s AV with as little love poured into it to make it just barely presentable. As a software engineer myself, I am disgusted by the laziness Blizzard is showing in AV. It should be the ORIGINAL AV when it came out, not the BFA-like abomination it is in the beta.
+1 like <3 to the op for making this. and a bump too. I want to experience the good version of AV and not some fruity easy nerfed mode with everything dangerous taken out of it.
