The patch process prior to TBC was extremely poor. Any changes got directly overwritten and weren’t archived at all.
And your suggestion is pserver levels of lack of authenticity. The answer’s no.

1.12 lacks the authentic 1.5 AV experience. I want the original but what keeps them from remaking it? They have the 1.12 data according to you they ja e the patch note saying how much the npcs were nerfed. So how hard would it be to throw parts of the map back in and put nocs back? Sound alike they just dknt want to put the effort In
Remaking it is outside the scope of the project. Classic is a port, not a complete from scratch rebuild. They don’t have the resources available to remake it, and even if they did they’d likely botch it entirely.
I’d prefer a straight 1.12 AV to an inaccurate, private server level facsimile.
Seriously dude, do you get bitcoins for every post you make carrying water for blizzard? You are once again doing that thing where as someone who did not play WoW until Wrath, but act like a specialist on the topic of vanilla/classic and all things development of such.
Please just stop the absurdity.
How is restoring all of these different parts of the game fine, but this is just way out of the scope of the project? Doesn’t make much sense.
Research is a wonderful thing, Broken. You should try it sometime.
And how am I carrying water for Blizzard if I don’t trust them not to botch a from-scratch remake of 1.5?
Mostly because they have decided they are remaking 1.12 not 1.5 and at this point aren’t making changes to that.
Maybe early on in the process they would have been open to changes but at this point #nochange won and it’s 1.12.
Because it’s a restoration project, not a remake. They can’t restore it if they don’t have the data for it. It’s a very small team – not even remotely enough people on hand to remake an entire era’s worth of data from scratch. And that data will likely be inaccurate if they did.

So, they have the data from all of these different areas, AI, spell values, pre-cata zones and they just ‘lost’ AV?
If you say so.
They literally directly overwrote patch data without archiving what they overwrote prior to TBC. They explained this during the BlizzCon panel.
It’s old news. Why the hell are you people still unaware of this? Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out.
Mom washed out chalk hop-scotch board off of the sidewalk, however will we be able to accurately replicate it?
Also they said making 1.12 is a design choice where did they say they didn’t have the data? They also said for years they didn’t have any way to recreate classic at all. But as soon as they smelled money they “found it” sure.
I have a really hard time believing for a second that a company like Blizzard can’t make it happen. Sorry.
Of COURSE they wouldn’t come out and tell us they’re doing 1.12 because they don’t have 1.5. They’d be lynched harder for that statement than they already are for the one they DID make.
Then you have zero idea how modern business works.
Great refutation, truly.
You know nothing he says will change your opinion.
I would actually respect them and I would understand the decision way more than them saying it’s the version that’s the most complete and that collecting heads is gross.
Exactly, so I’m opting not to waste my time anymore. Or what’s left of my sanity.
How long have you been on these forums? Blizzard get lynched for pretty much everything.
