So I played about 10 games if AV today… Yep 10 in one sitting! All of them around 7 min games. Good job blizz, this AV version really sucks. Once people finish grinding their rep in a few days AV will be dead.

So do something about it. It only takes a handful of people to stop a zerg.
This AV is not fun and boring. High honor & rep even if you lose. 7-8 minutes games. Essentially not trying and getting rewarded for it. I was so pumped for Classic BGs, but now AV is for gear, wsg for fun.

You are easily triggered. 
Its not popularity, its reputation/honor grinding. Not a single person in my guild is doing this bs once we have rep/ws premades show to be better honor than 8min 3-4k bonus honor matches u can get from killing balinda, lt’s, etc.

Is it possible to even have as close to 1.0 AV as possible in a patch ahead of it?
Would they have to patch AV alone to just suit that?

Doubt it. Why would you join slow AV and get 10% for the same time investment? Yes, occasionally some people will want to try it, but there will be minority at any given time and most likely the queue time will be unbearable.
Players will still go for the path of least resistance, and if you introduce 2 different AV they will choose the more rewarding one, at least till they got all loot they can. So unless slower AV offers equal or better rewards this is not a viable solution.
