11.0 - New Expansion (Possible spoilers...or not)

They’ve wiped out entire solar systems because they didnt like the way things turned out… Killing everyone for the greater good, sounds like every other bad guy

Hope is a poison, my friends.

We’re getting a faction war. It’s been two expansions since the last one and the state of the current story makes it clearly time for that whole gimmick to be put forever in the trash. These are the signs and portents, as they have come before and will again.

It’ll be a faction war, it’ll be yanked out of the writers’ butts on the flimsiest of pretexts, everyone will hate it, and the developers will be left scratching their heads wondering what went wrong.

Mark my words.

I’ll take a faction war if they find a way to make it the last faction war and allow me to level up Goblin rep as Norman, so I can get the trikes.

Good I love faction war

Which expansions do we qualify as faction wars?

One thing I find fun about the potential idea of random new continent on the dark side of azeroth with titan-forged things on it is that y’know titan-forged things are mostly us, the playable races. It would be really cool to get to a new land and explore a new Dwarven or Human culture, rather than groups of one-off mole people and that sort of thing that we’ve often gotten.

Adding a new culture or nation of existing species also obviously lends itself to expanding customization options for playable races (these humans on the other side of the planet surely have cool ways of styling their hair), something which I always enjoy.

This sort of thing was what I liked the best about BfA. Going to Boralus and Zandalar really helped enrich human and troll culture, and the best legacy of BfA isn’t the doofy Sylvanas plot, but the fact that we got all this fun new worldbuilding about the different nations of trolls and humans.

This might not be what they’re going for at all of course, and maybe “Avaloren” or w/e is going to be a raid, or a small titan-themed zone like Ulduar, or populated by new NPC-only groups which will feel as irrelevant as a kyrian. But yeah I’d love to see a previously isolated land of humans and dwarves and who knows maybe some orcs who got lost along the way

Thing is, they’re saying “Warcraft and WoW” so the announcement very well could be a Netflix show, as Kirsy said – or Warcraft 4. Or both.

I’ve always wanted Warcraft 4 and the ability to pull my characters in as hero units.

I probably wouldn’t play it much, if at all, but I’ve wanted it.

I don’t care if it’s a faction war or what the story is. I just want some good raids. I’ve swung back around to prog and the fun of this game, for me, is the laughs in discord when someone does something stupid like backflip off Sark’s platform.

I only scanned quest text this expac and have no reps. If I’m going to read something, it won’t be this.

When they differentiate “Warcraft” from “WoW” I’m almost certain they’re talking about Arclight Rumble, the mobile game they’re currently promoting in WoW with the little arcade machine pop-ups.

Tier 1- War
Cata, Mop, Bfa

Tier 2- Conflict
Vanilla, Wotlk, Legion

Tier 3- Peace or mild animosity
Everything else

That will already be out for everyone, and has an in-game promotion. I think we’ll get more, given the significance of 2024 for the IP.

I already have Rumble on my phone because they did a beta or whatever it was in Oceania. It’s okay. Predatory, though (no surprise, right?) – there’s a lot of ways to spend money.

I have a little team comp that’s levelled up a bit and if I lose that progress on official release, I’ll never play it again.

I think BC was tier 2, maybe even a 3 with peace and annoyance being Shadowlands/Dragontales

Honestly, if that happened, I’d go full Star Trek and just go all out to provide them with basic needs and work to protect the hive from as far a distance as possible. Lookit my little Antians, building altars and … oh … oh they’re sacrificing larvae in my name. Oh no.

The reason I’d rate BC as a tier 3 is because while there were some small battles, it wasn’t really part of the main overture. Things really amped up dramatically over time throughout wotlk, Cata, and MoP.

Mists was the last time the faction war storyline made any sense.

Idk I thought Azeroth bleeding extremely potent military resource and then blowing up an ancient pyramid in the heart of a city closely aligned with the horde was a pretty compelling reason even

Guys my uncle (totally not Chatgpt) works for Blizzard and he told me what the new expansion is.

Title: World of Warcraft: “Unleashed Legends”

Premise:
In the wake of an unimaginable escape from the Maw, Sylvanas Windrunner and King Anduin Wrynn have returned to Azeroth as an unlikely couple with an even more unlikely passion: breeding champion Labradoodles. Amid this adorable endeavor, a sinister force threatens to disrupt the balance of Azeroth, forcing heroes to embark on a new adventure filled with strange discoveries and quirky challenges.

New Race: The “Lupinari”
Introducing the Lupinari, a race shrouded in mystery and known for their love of all things canine. These dog-inspired beings have a unique connection with Labradoodles, making them the perfect caretakers for the champions bred by Sylvanas and Anduin. The Lupinari bring a new perspective to Azeroth, along with their affinity for taming and training beasts.

New Class: “Furbane”
While not everyone expected it, the Furbane class harnesses the power of Labradoodles to protect Azeroth. These pet-centric heroes can summon Labradoodle companions and command them in battle, creating synergistic attacks that rival even the most formidable foes. Furbanes combine elements of pet classes and elemental magic, making them a quirky yet surprisingly effective addition to the game.

New Location: “Paws of Azeroth”
The expansion takes players to the enchanting land of “Paws of Azeroth,” a realm filled with lush forests, enchanting meadows, and mystical dog-friendly locales. Here, you’ll encounter Lupinari villages, Sylvanas and Anduin’s Labradoodle breeding kennels, and a myriad of adorable creatures. Be prepared to embark on epic quests, uncovering the secrets of this charming and surprisingly dangerous land.

Player Housing: Still Just a Dream
Despite players’ hopes and dreams, Azerothians will once again discover that the promise of player housing remains just out of reach. The struggle to convince the developers continues as players yearn for their perfect virtual homes.

Onyxia’s Spleen: The Unlikely Villain
Onyxia, believed to have been defeated years ago, returns in an unexpected and grotesque form. All that remains of her is a massive, enchanted spleen, now pulsating with dark energy. Players must face this bizarre challenge and confront the mysterious forces that have animated the organ. The fate of Azeroth hangs in the balance as heroes embark on a spleen-shaking adventure.

“Unleashed Legends” promises to be a quirky and unforgettable expansion, where Labradoodles and Lupinari take center stage alongside Sylvanas and Anduin’s unique partnership. As players explore the charming yet perilous Paws of Azeroth, they’ll find themselves on a journey filled with surprises, humor, and epic challenges that only the World of Warcraft can deliver.

Still better than Shadowlands

What was the prompt

No, you’re right. Competition over Azerite as a resource made sense, as did the strike on Darza’alor. Overall, it was a fine enough war story.

I think general disappointment over the sameness of the plot weighed it down a lot. It was eye-rolling to see the Alliance getting nuked out of nowhere again. It was tedious seeing the Horde willingly toss aside all morals to follow a kook again. It was tiresome passing plot devices (and later Baine) back and forth until we could siege Orgrimmar again.

If it hadn’t been overshadowed by so many weary tropes, it would have been a fine war story.

Write the premise to a World of Warcraft expansion where Sylvanas and Anduin returns from the maw and they are a couple that breed champion Labradoodles. Include features such as a new race no one has ever heard of and a new class no one wanted. Include the name of the new place of Azeroth we explore and be sure to add that we are never going to actually get player housing. Also Onyxia’s back too but all that is left of her is her spleen so we have to fight that for some reason.

I liked BFA up until nzoth. Came out of nowhere and ended just as fast. I’ve given up on compelling, good story telling in WoW. I’m not interested in thinking or sense making. I want fun and cool and legendary and awesome and cute and nice and good. It’s what I’m used to now. Shadowlands was epic and cool. I liked Ardenweald. Not much else. I didn’t play much, but the story, as crappy as it was didn’t bother me much. I hated what it did to the player base though.

I’m just easy to please . And to enrage
