1,000 tenders earned a month is not enough

I saved some tenders from last month and it still isn’t enough to get the things I’d really like to have. No not everything, maybe around half. I’m definitely going to have to freeze something but will still come up short.

I know another posted in the past mentioned this, but I think we should be able to keep earning tender if we keep doing the tasks on the tender checklist.

I just returned in March after a two year absence and so far I have purchased:

Majestic Azure Peafowl (March)
The Dreadwake (April)
Emerald Guardian’s Longbow (April)
Sunny Bow-quet (May)
Forsaken Cresset (May)

Everything but the Sunny Bow-quet is currently in use on various characters but given the way my human hunter changes her mog it won’t be long before it is used too. (In fact, I am pretty sure going forward, I will be purchasing every bow for her just due to that  .)

I would have also liked to get the Lavish Floral Stalk (May) and Lavish Floral Edge (May) but the reality is, while I have a couple of characters that could conceivably choose a girly girl look, there is not the right style of green armor or enough pink armor in the game to create a good one.

(I did purchase the Blades of Elune but returned them because the two holes don’t line up, they just partially overlap, making it look like two growing eyes were staring at me and it wrecked the look for me.)

And I froze Pokee (May) and am still debating on him because I see him with my gnome rogue (poked her nose in the wrong place and is now being followed by a creepy voodoo doll) but she already has a Masked Tanuki Pup I spent almost a week learning to pet battle and leveling battle pets to get (and level) and it suites her just fine.

And for June, my line-up of possibilities are:
Blazing Felfire Armaments (because they are pretty!)
Vagabond’s Carrot Threads (for my gnome rogue)
Forgemaster’s Gavel (for my dwarf shaman)

But we will see.

Personally, I love shopping the Trading Post, seeing what grabs my attention and figuring out what I might use it for on which character and how it might express or enhance or add to their story.

It seems like you have a very healthy approach to it compared to some others.

My main complaint about the TP would obviously be that I just don’t get a lot of value out of it, but for what I do get I appreciate it, and it’s free so I don’t have a lot to actually complain about.

Edit:

Personally don’t see why they won’t give people more items they can save. I think that would solve a lot of problems with it. Even 3-5 would be a huge difference I think.

I consider it a blessing that there is so rarely anything I want on the TP and that I get the currency just by playing normally. Its clearly not content that is aimed at me and if by chance anything not lame shows up there I by default have the means to get it.

Agreed. We need more tenders to earn to get all of this awesome transmog stuff.

I think that can last only so long, because pretty much all the cash shop doodads are once per account due to collections being basically entirely account-wide now (which is probably why retail is built to twist your arm so hard into buying Tokens).

Eventually it’s gonna happen.

And yeah, the writing on the wall is pretty obvious.

If it actually was a fixed loop like say the seasonal events have been for decades (do we even still get a different mug model for Brewfest or a different toy for Wintersday anymore? Oh wait, was it Wintersday or Winter Veil, I always get GW1 and WoW Christmas festivals mixed up LOL), I could see it legitimately being an “okay, we expect you to stick around active for multiple expansions to get this stuff” carrot that’s designed to last (unlike say PvE content which is consumed at locust-plague rates by the “community” these days). In that case, yeah, everything would make perfect sense (if a little scroogey with the inflated prices, but then this time they’ve basically announced the next three expansions, not just one, so that is over half a decade to account for).

But apparently it’s not, some of this stuff may or may not be back next year, or even ever - some of it might and likely will just go from “you can get it if you had the tendies” to “just one rich and very lucky player at a time will get it for 10 million gold on the BMAH once every few months at most” and meanwhile, the available sources of tendies haven’t gone up even one bit.

Blizzard doubtless knows a lot of the playerbase literally plays anymore for the collection aspect (we’re even getting dedicated collection events like Remix now), but what kind of monstrosity is a collection system that doesn’t even offer you the reliable possibility to, you know, collect anywhere near everything, even in the long term?

That is a great idea!

It would probably take a lot of the pressure off people, give them more time to really think about what they want and give them the opportunity to still purchase items, so still feeling rewarded, in the months there is nothing available to their tastes.

There is no downside I can think of.

You should send it in thru suggestions!

Considering people like you and me keep paying for a sub and having people playing alongside those players? It’s exactly doing what it’s meant to do. You pay 500, earn 500. But why not just 500 or 1000? Keeps you playing. Why do they have bundled tenders? Encourage you to buy it. Why does every month have more things than you can afford? They wanted to sell tender earlier for $ is why. People with no self control or rich will pay for more (a lot more) than a normal person would. This entire system is meant to extract as much money from you as possible.

That’s just inherently abusive and filled with points where they weaken your ability to be resistant to spending further and further. If you don’t believe me go look at gacha games and the research behind the whole $0.99 packages and ‘300% value!’ Stuff. Just because you or I will benefit from it doesn’t mean the systems being used aren’t inherently going to abuse those unaware or the target audience lol.

I’ve had enough to purchase the mounts every month. The rest is just fluff anyways.

Whenever I read excuses like this for people making bad choices, I always think of the following adages:

‘A fool and his money are soon parted.’

‘Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.’

People need to stop blaming others for taking advantage of their refusal to use their brain and make smart choices instead of knowingly making bad ones and then playing the victim.

If they truly believe they have a problem, there are all sorts of articles on the internet to teach a person how to modify and change their illogical thinking and gain control over their bad habits to turn them into good ones.

It really kills me that my grandson at only eleven years old had Wizard 101’s number three days into the game before all this was internet headline and refused my father’s offer to makes purchases for him in the game because ‘that’s what they want you to do, grandpa’ and happily kept playing for months afterward without any extras (he plays Hearthstone the same way).

Folks need to grow up, take responsibility for their choices and make better ones instead of pretending it is out of their control and some imaginary force generated by companies is making them do things.

To whom it may apply: It is within your control, exercise some!

TL;DR We take advantage knowing better. I know this, that’s why I mentioned it. But making an entire post to excuse bad practices by a business just because people are stupid is… Tone deaf. They could also not prey on these consumers and provide the same end result to everyone.

But they won’t because people like you and me still pay a sub fee and play their game lol.

Technically other people pay my sub. Since the wow token exists I cant imagine paying money for any blizzard game lol.

There were a lot of big ticket items this month ;-;. The ensembles and individual pieces are all different colors as well.

Yeah, at a $5 price hike too. I don’t blame you though, not out of your wallet makes it way less detrimental

1000 tenders a month is like 33 per day… That’s a lot of chicken!

I didn’t say it was new. I just said lately. The valentines bugs were far less, as was the bee but don’t quote me on the bee.

You should get X amount for every level 70 character you have each month, without a cap.

be like me and dont buy everything. i got over 12k now
