100% NOT ok with delay of launch

A delayed game that screws me out of the PTO I needed to use to actually enjoy launch week, isn’t worth releasing at all.

Sounds like a you problem for calling in PTO so far in advance when the dates were not yet solid, it’s been in a weird quagmire for a while. :woman_shrugging:

I mean… 2 months or more is pretty standard to require PTO requests in large companies and Oct 26, 2020 is a pretty solid date.

Blizzard set a release date. How is that not “solid”? And must be a nice job where they just let you put in, and get, without significant notice. Everywhere I’ve ever worked, wanted at LEAST two weeks, and you’re less likely to get it, the less lead time to give.

We are about 4 weeks from their release date. At what point does it become solid? On the 25th?

I’m ok with it. I’d rather things work well and be ready then something they have to continuously patch and fix later.

Shadowlands will still have flaws sure, but that doesn’t mean it needs to be a buggy mess on top of that. The stuff I don’t like I can live with too. And if it gets to be too much, I’ll go play something else for a while.

But I want them to take their time with it. It’s not about #pulltheripcord, it’s about the bugs with server connections and getting that to work so that people’s characters aren’t disappearing, along with their collections. Or old characters showing up.

The real critique is that right before a big expac launch was not the time to do the server connections. But most of them already done. So now we have to wait for everything to be ironed out.

Why not? Not everyone enjoys traveling. Just being off work is enough for some people.

Trust me, you don’t want to play SL as it is right now.

They have to release at the time they said they would now because they don’t want to do it doing the holidays they said that last patch if you have for gotten

Obviously I’d like it to be the 16th like they said, but if it’s delayed it’s fine.

I feel like if they were going to delay the Shadowlands launch date they would have said something instead of just removing the release candidate tag for the Pre patch. There’s no way a delay in the expansion release would be a last minute decision lol they would know long before they ever touched anything that we would see.

Yup. just look how the master chief collection turned out for a few years. huge hype for the thing a month later it was a ghost town. Launched it with so much game breaking bugs and server side bugs it was almost unplayable.

This is nothing more than a strawman argument.

An MMO is never “ready”. It’s always being balanced and updated. By your own logic you’ve been paying to beta test for years just by playing the game.

You are the one making excuses. Anything to pretend this game has never had bugs before. Google a subgraph. Look at the flat sub graph through all of wrath, that only spiked for cata pre-sales.

Best of luck in your sandbox. Btw, did they give you launch Cthuun, or “patched.”

Don’t blame the developers for this. That’s just the overhead guys demanding they push out the game whether it’s finished or not.

Although a delay would be disappointing, I’m not convinced that would be worse than playing through a buggy, beta version of SL.

The simple reality is that the beta is still VERY buggy, many tuning problems have yet to be addressed, and the Maw is woefully underdeveloped. There may be many reasons for this - the challenge of work-from-home, and the mass exodus of staff from Blizzard. But the simple reality is that SL is not ready for live. If any other studio released a game as incomplete and buggy as SL currently is, they would get hauled over the coals.

Activision can’t make games. they can only post deadlines and spend money before it’s made.

People keep talking about this “mass exodus” but it’s not being reported anywhere.

This is true-ish, but the degree to which SL is an unfinished product is significantly worse than any previous xpac, including BfA.

Yes, it is.
