Some people have stated that they rather have Shadowlands delayed…I disagree!
Shadowlands will release with systems in place that no matter how polish it is, their will be fundamental flaws with it. i.e.: covenants, soulbinds, legendaries, etc. .
Also, it will be a marketing nightmare having to push back the date. Pre-purchasers will no undoubtedly ask for their money back, articles/videos will be made, and they may be looking at potential lawsuits based on deception.
Finally, there are those who think that giving it another month or two will solve all the issues, which it will not! Blizzard chose the hill they wanted to stand on #PullTheRipcord and now it is up to us, gamers, to hold them accountable for their actions!
This is the part I mainly think about. If a delay were to happen, those who support it don’t sit down to think about the domino effect that occurs behind and outside the stage.
Video game launch delays happen all the time. Deal with it. You’ll live. If they delay it, it’s for the right reasons. There’s nothing worse than a buggy pos game that needed more time but greed won out. Launching an unfinished product will do more damage than spending the time to fix it.
I’ve said it several time already, but at this point a delay won’t make any difference.
The key differences between BFA and SL is that the BFA systems were completely broken and Blizz had been told that many, many times in the Alpha/Beta but chose to not do anything about it.
SL Covenants/Legendary combos are very unbalanced, but they aren’t completely broken and unfixable.
With SL being in the state that it is, it makes more sense to release it and balance accordingly in the coming months than it does to delay.
I wouldn’t be concerned about it. We don’t actually know what the release-test name change means. It’s most likely nothing, just background stuff on their end. There’s still time enough to get a new release candidate for a predicted Oct 6th pre-patch.
There’s currently no sign the pre-patch or expansion is being delayed. It’s just the forums jumping to conclusions over a small detail. Blizz has been on schedule this entire time.
If it takes months that will be a whole tier of busted classes and systems. The beginning of an expac is when many players decide if it’s worth sticking around for the rest…Do you sacrifice potential players because you were far too optimistic in your capability to balance multiple interconnected systems?
I’d rather have it delayed. Even if there are some fundamental problems, if the rest of the game is polished and fun to play people will often overlook that. What they won’t overlook is an awful first experience with the new expansion.
People who cancel their preorders might come back if the game is well-received. People who cancel their subs because the expansion hit and wasn’t fun to play are much harder to get back.
