Yeah, and I was pretty much the first to do so. They can be compared, but it isn’t the same. Mythic+ is all about speedrunning under difficulty. Defense Protocol is not. It is about catch-up gear… and come phase 3 bad luck protection for 10m HM gear.
Do you know what is all about speedrunning under difficulty in Wrath Classic? High-end raid speed clearing.
It’s been said many times before, you’ll never get RDF, blizzard would sooner end Classic than rerelease RDF, their argument against making classic from the very beginning is that it didn’t have RDF and thus would be pointless to play or unplayable, you were not supposed to prove them right on this, the second you do you prove that classic servers or progression is pointless and not everyone thinks that cause you’re just adding all the same exact **** from retail and that’s not at all what classic was supposed to represent
Theyve added more stuff from retail to classic (even beginning in classic vanilla with layering and dynamic spawn rates, etc) than what adding an original feature to wrath would be considered as.
they’re both essentially the same monster. Layering was considered a necessary evil for this release the same way Blizzard was essentially trying to justify having added RDF into the original game and that Classic (then just an idea or concept) wouldn’t be playable without it.
I’m definitely not a fan of layering either, but that seems like the kind of thing that really couldn’t be avoided, whereas people saying things like RDF is needed might be more or less ignoring that the problems we’re seeing with wrath classic right now are due to things like layering and otherwise would have never been necessary. Easy to not think the world is empty or that there’s no one to partner with when you’re all not necessarily being sharded.
My argument isn’t that the previous changes are good but that RDF is somehow worse or not bad compared to those, my argument is that all of it is bad and the key is to not add it all back in if and whenever possible, and so far blizzard has been failing at that. The key is to not turn Classic into a complete failure by repeating all the mistakes of the original game
I think the bad thing is making any changes at all. This is a retro gaming series of expansions to WoW. All they needed to do was release the games as they were and theyd never have a problem. You could release classic vanilla as it was and if people didnt like RDF being in classic Wrath they could play the versions of the game without it.
Instead the devs tried to make their mark on something and theyre failing hard at it.
To be fair, its only the forum votes. They need to throw that at the entire playerbase that is active and potentially those that are inactive (recent unsubs).
The poll is badly designed and you’re misinterpreting it. I like raiding and running alts by leveling them through questing and dungeons. I also like having a profession on each of my alts. But I could only choose one and some of the things I like to do in game weren’t even on the list. You assume that those who picked raiding aren’t also doing dungeon content when it could be dungeons was the second choice for many of those who picked raiding or something else as their first choice. At the very least to make the poll better you should be able to choose a few of the things you like or be able to rank them
It does. A lot of us would play again if we had RDF / J J. From what I can tell the way people are begging people to come raid, you could use all the fresh blood you can get right now. Maybe your situation is peachy but that ain’t the case everywhere. Theres literally zero argument to keep RDF out of the game at this point.
It detracts from your experience in no way whats so ever, aside from your pride getting kicked in a little bit because you’ve staunchly defended against something just for the sake of no changes (hows that working out?) and the most asinine argument ever, “muh socialization”
Let me break it down for you
A group forms
“summon plz”
group finishes dungeon
“gg thnx for run”
Wow. Absolutely mind breaking socialization!
Meanwhile, the devs are going to add a game mode that is inherently anti-social. Talk about hypocritical.
Shadowlands also had covid, you know, when everyone was forced to sit at home and play video games. That shiz was a dream for me, still getting to work and otherwise being told to stay home and play video games… chef’s kiss
A lot of WoW players, and still some of the devs, are hard stuck in a child’s mentality of “why do THEY get something I don’t want and aren’t forced to use?!”
hopefully with brian gone and he said he did not like rdf (yes he said this via twitter) after someone told him that it was harder to level and all, hopefully something happens.
i’m kinda hoping he was the cause of us not having it and maybe whomever else takes up the spot listens to the rdf crowd.
