I think my biggest confusion/annoyance is still the Sky Golem and it’s palette swap.
Herbalists are hamstringing themselves by not using it, so it feels forced.
It should have been part of the system or Water Striders should have been exempt. Mixed message otherwise.
Fair point. It seems a little crazy that one class has such a big advantage with a profession.
It’s not even on the same level as those +10 bonuses some races have.
I only picked about herbalism on alts after having the other professions already covered.
You only need so many blacksmiths
I have a jewelcrafter and 3 alchemists, and at least one alt with the other crafting professions.
I remember in Wrath I got the 310% flying speed from the meta achievement doing all the holiday events, that gave my druid a serious advantage flying around Sholazar Basin (or whatever it was called) farming herbs.
A lot of my alts have mining/herbs as their professions for easy money while questing, it adds up. I have too many alts, and too many herbalists.
I legit don’t know how it works, what it is, or where to get it. So… I guess I forgot it exists. xD
A tangent, but I am still bitter that my violet protodrake I got in Wrath doesn’t come with default 310% speed anymore. I’m not sure when they changed that…
It’s an item slot in the mount collection tab. Can give water walking, protection from daze, a parachute or 20% speed increase(doesn’t stack as far as I know). They can be crafted or bought from the AH.
I legit had to look up what the 4th one(20% speed) was as I couldn’t remember.
I end up stuck in combat half the time when I dismount for most things. Mob density in some spots is insane.
If it was just the 1.5 sec cast time it wouldn’t be so bad, but when you have to kill things before or after it gets tedious fast for me.
With the glove enchant you can usually pick them even while two or three things try to beat on you.
There was no crying. Lacking imagination, devs wanted to seize back control they felt they had lost when they couldn’t lock the striders to their expansions, so they came up with a system that sounded good as a cover. Any zone they want to slow us down in, “mount equipment disabled in [zone]” will come up. We still have the potions though, no one was crying because those potions were always there.
No, because this. They’ve been trying to strip water walking from the striders for a while, and finally got away with it (sort of). Their argument was that everyone used it… while neglecting that every herbalist uses a golem (if they aren’t a druid). They thought excluding them from the equipment system would disincentivize its use… lol.
on a separate note, anyone else find it ironic that a feature/idea wow had first (well i think anyway) - other games adopted with success?
i think mounts like the water strider having unique mobility/passive whatever you want to call it, made it super unique…then they restricted it. guild wars expanded on it by having mounts navigate terrain differently based on their type which i think is super nice! apparently so do their players!
if devs just learned how to make fantasy feel alive again like the original blizzard guys did, and stopped being so hands on - they could have some really neat ideas a more appreciative audience
I made this idea for a new mount equipment a little bit ago, with a little salesman flare!
The post was a joking manner of pitching the idea for a mount equipment that would let ground only mounts fly. Some liked it some didn’t, ehhh. I thought it was cool, the whole system seemed to really fall apart. Nowadays I only ever use the water walk one thats the heirloom from MoP fishing.
