I am glad some like it.
I preferred mounts for each use. I like having a reason to use different ones. Meaningful choices and all that

Assuming they don’t go, “well WE loved the original Maw!” route and just ban mounts altogether.
i “forgot” it once… when i jumped off a cliff into water, and hit the surface and promptly died.
now i make sure i remember to dismount or aim the camera down when i jump into water from high up.
flashback to Azjol Nerub intensifies
I’m not saying every DK assassinated at least one party with Path of Frost that way, but…
>_>;
I buy water walking from the Anglers NPC and send it to every alt and don’t touch it again. It’s the only way the water strider does what it’s supposed to do.
I’m still upset over the fact that they removed water walking from the water strider by default (it now requires mount equipment). The water strider needs to have water walking by default but it won’t be able to use mount equipment. It makes no sense for the water strider to not be able to walk on water by default.
I never bothered to get the mount, but I certainly agree with this sentiment. It was nice seeing people on their Water Strider’s to cross water or DK’s using path of frost. Kind of lame to just walk across on anything.
Reminder that I had a somewhat larger and more interesting system in mind as far back as April '19:
An Expended Mount Equipment System - Community / General Discussion - World of Warcraft Forums (blizzard.com)
I silently protest it & don’t use any of the equipment because I find it really stupid that they got rid of the water striders uniqueness. I’m forever salty about this.
I was honestly excited at the prospect when it was first announced. Water strider losing its ability was fine as it meant I could use any mount I wanted without switching just for that. But after putting the floaties on the first couple characters I haven’t touched it. Honestly haven’t even bothered to fly off to pandaria to get it for alts. In the end I’m just disappointed in the system, though I am still glad I can use my kodo over water rather than having to use my strider.
Yes.
Watching non-druid herb botters putz around on the same mount - which never lost its inherent special ability - just proves that the rationale behind the system’s necessity was total crap.
In my opinion they figured the expectations for mount abilities would conflict with the design of keeping us grounded and slow.
I would trade the water walking for no daze any day.
The mount equipment system should’ve seen more options rather then just a lame way to remove water walking mounts.
It’s just as bad as flying mounts that “forget” how to fly in some zones/new expacs.
I don’t silently protest it myself but I also am not going to participate in a poor thought out system that is the mount equipment.
So, I guess I have peace of mind in that way.
Still refuse to use it on any of my characters as it was a massive waste of development time
I’ll bite what the heck.
It was a crock of you know what, the whole idea. A big song and dance to get rid of the water bug so folks didn’t feel left out. People that could have gone and got the thing but it was easier to go on about it instead. So here we are. By the next expansion Blizzard will probably pull the equipment slot off mounts. (which is what a few folks were thinking would happen in the long run. Time will tell.)
I quit the game when they removed water walking from my bug.

Did it help my water strider, no.
I got the free equipment when this feature was released and put it on all my toons, and haven’t thought about it since.
The mount equipment was something they implemented so they didn’t have to worry about making mounts that have unique functions going forward.
I put on the anti daze equipment and call it good.
