Exactly! Every other blue post says “we look forward to feedback”. The AV one started with linking three threads saying the looked at feedback.
Pre 1.12 AV was indeed an epic experience, we had a match on Feathermoon (i forget which battlegroup we became) go for nearly a week. However, Blizzard has made their stance clear on this topic and 1.12 AV will be the version they roll out. There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ answer in this debate and if Blizzard changes their mind, cool, if not, also cool. In either version i look forward to cruching the Alliance offensive under out superior Horde might and tactics.
1.5 AV was an epic experience once or twice, it was not however an experience that people wanted to repeat indefinitely which is why the BG had poor participation before it was changed.
Then why are you still giving feedback on others feedback?
No thanks OP. I want to actually be able to do AV 2 or so years down the road. 1.5 AV will not live that long.
Agreed. It will get old fast.
I think the people who keep clamoring on about day long or three days long AVs aren’t even going to be able to log in to experience a majority of it. They will play AV after work, log off and then wake up the next day go to work and come back and do the same AV?
You already missed like 12+ hours of the battle. What if the AV ends while you were away? Wouldn’t that defeat the whole purpose?
People are older nowdays, at least a majority of the playerbase who plays Classic. Surveys have been done on Reddit and most fall into the 25-35 bucket with a job and or family. They’re not going to be able to sit 12+ hours a day in AV enjoying this “epic experience”.
So who cares how long it lasts? They may be logged out when the battle ends.
You 1.5AV fanbois are making such a dumpster fire out of this.
Please please please stop :^)
Wait, why would the 1.12 AV Version be more enjoyable than the 1.5-1.8 versions? Especially on the long term?
1.5 to 1.8 have way more content within the battleground than 1.12.
1.12 is the most complete version as blizzard wanted it therefore it is the most authentic.
A vast majority of the Classic WoW playerbase are working adults with family. No one is going to have time to enjoy these daylong epic battles because a majority of the server will be at work or doing PvE content and not sitting in AV.
What happens when you have 800 players logged onto the server during the day? 150 of those are level 60 on your faction. 20 of them are doing AV.
You don’t even have the numbers to win. And even if you did win, people won’t be able to experience the win, because they are at work!
Blizzard knows full well that AV 1.5 is the most desired version by far. Given their overall motivation for Classic, I have to assume they are going with the 1.12 version because they can’t find a complete set of the prior version to make the instance playable. The seem to have decided that Classic will not entail any recoding or redeveloping of content, so we (and they) are stuck with the later version. A shame.
Because 1.12 emphasizes pvp instead of pve, you know the reason people go into a BG in the first place.
Your mask is slipping again, lunni.
We tried very hard to create a battle experience that felt like Warcraft; we want you to feel like you are part of a larger conflict
From the original BG webpage
I love that you have now shifted to making up stuff whole cloth.
This.
Also as it’s been explained countless times:
Players turned AV into a zerg when they found the most efficient way to get honor out of the BG. All you have to do to get these LONG games is turtle. That’s it. You can do that just as easily in 1.12 as 1.5.
If you want a long game, convince your team to turtle, but nobody will because nobody gives a about waiting 2 days to get rep for something they could get in 20 minutes
But it seems like the tone of a lot of people who want 1.5 AV is that they don’t actually want to pvp which is why they don’t want to turtle, they want the pve. Of course there’s already plenty of dungeons where they can get that already.
Resulting in less PVP per BG instance. But you know this.
Only if people avoid PvP.
Oh man, back again with the argument “working adults with family”. This very argument is of one the reasons why WoW sucks today, because Blizzard decided to cater to the people who “don’t have the time” to play WoW.
What is the problem with joining an AV that has begun for a few hours, and not seeing the end of it?
Because 1.12 emphasizes pvp instead of pve, you know the reason people go into a BG in the first place.
This is absolutely untrue, as the patch 1.12 emphasizes the Zerg Rush to finish the battle as fast as possible to get your honor points whereas the previous version had you kill enemies so you can get bones and scraps to turn in so you get to advance on the battlefield thanks to reinforcements. Zerg rush were almost impossible because of the numbers of NPCs standing in your way, their high HP and their damage.

This statement is honestly borderline fanaticism it’s funny.

If you don’t like the zerg good news, you can easioly stop it by you know doing some pvp and playing defense. If you refuse to play D you have no right to complain about zergs.
My personal subjective fantasy is 1.12 for a few months so everyone can zerg and get exalted/IBS/etc then roll it back so once the majority of players have grinded it out they can enjoy the classic experience without wanting to tear their hair out trying to level AV rep. This also can help settle the question of whether it’s actually enjoyable or if people just did it for the rewards. It’s too situational though and if you’re a latecomer it will be unfair to you so it’s not gonna happen but it’s nice to fantasize about.
