There won’t be any BGs until later. That means no honor bonus from BGs. Did you factor this into your hypothetical timeline of generalizations?
BG’s release the same day BWL does. That means that when BWL comes out, the quickest and most optimal path to BiS PvP gear is to queue WSG and abandon PvE. Tell me how that’s authentic and why that’s not true.
At best you can tell me why it doesn’t matter “that much”.
People talking about the lack of BGs initially impacting total honor earned not realizing that PvP rank is calculated by standing. People will still gain rank quickly even without absurd totals in the hundreds of thousands each week as long as they PvP a lot.
Do people not realize how much time commitment and how long it takes for the honor grind? People will be hitting rank 14 after Nef is on farm.
What caster class uses their tier pieces for PvE? Comparing them with tier pieces is stupid.
The class you’re posting on, for one. Mages that PvP will be ahead of the curve on reaching hit cap by having boots initially.
That isn’t the point. Unlike TBC+, in Vanilla, PvE gear was better for PvP than actual PvP gear. Like it or hate it, that’s how it was. T1 was valued because people wanted to PvP in a game titled Warcraft (it’s crazy, I know.)
And? Whats the problem?
Players with MC and Onyxia gear with a couple pieces of t2 will have no problem against dudes in 3 pieces of pvp epics. Also, Ragnaros drops first piece of t2 as well.
He seems mad that he won’t be able to stomp noobs as easy this time.
Honestly, my only issue with it is that it’s not congruent with their already stated commitment to progressive itemization. Couldn’t care less on a personal level, though, since it’s going to benefit me as I plan to PvP and a lot.
Tier sets were ironically better suited for pvp than raiding. Did you ever see a mage in full tier 2? Instant cast fireballs are scary.
If I remember right, classic PvP gear had more stamina at the cost of throughput stats. I’d rather use actual raid gear to raid.
That’s sort of an irrelevant argument. If you’re substantially better than your opponent then, yes, you can beat them with worse gear. The point is that in Vanilla, in that scenario, you would have equal gear, arguably the raider would have better gear. Now it’s turned upside down. It’s a rather noticeable difference.
The larger issue, again, is the blue gear. Having full blue gear is completely and objectively better for PvP than having full T1. That’s dramatically different than how Vanilla was.
They haven’t said anything about itemization.
They said they’re using pre-1.10 loot tables, but they never actually confirmed they would be using pre-1.10 itemization. They specifically mentioned “drop rates and locations”, not the stats.
Which means that PvE gear will be more powerful than it was in 1.4 when the honor system came in.
How many rank 12-13 do you think would happen before BG launches?
Pre 1.10 loot tables implies items like Diana’s Pearl Necklace that were added in 1.10 won’t be in the game at launch, because that would heavily impact how well certain classes function in PvE. Same principle applies here, if that makes sense.
to get to rank 12 you need to be in the top 2% of all honor earners on your faction.
If you are the TOP earner every week you can do it in 7 weeks.
If you are at about the top 1% mark it should take you about 12 weeks.
If you are just above the 2% cutoff it would take you 21 weeks to earn rank 12.
A lot, because like I said ranks are calculated by standing and not total honor earned.

I would love to see how that compares to like preraid BiS but that would be a lot of work…
But I mean that looks like t1 and t2 would be better for both pvp and pve…
