Mate, there aren’t going to be battlegrounds in phase 2. It was announced earlier today. And when phase 3 hits, do you know how many months it takes for someone to get to rank 14? Even more so, without a population of 10k+ like on a private server, there will likely be less than 10 people who hit rank 14 on each server by the end of phase 3. There are some great videos showcasing how the honor system works in vanilla. It is incredibly harsh.
You won’t hit rank 14. You’ll likely never even face a rank 14 player in a battleground. And if you happen to face someone who is rank 14, given that they’ve put in 3000+ hours a month into pvp, you weren’t going to win in the first place.
First of all, you don’t need Rank 14 to get the armor. Second, do you know how many months it takes to get full T2? Have you crunched the math? Bosses only drop a couple items and there’s 40 people to split it with.
They literally play 12+ hours a day while the average PvPer maybe does 2 hours a day in BGs, so chances of running into them are still pretty high even if the premades are 1% of the BGs. Their matches are usually extremely quick massacres as well, so more queues will pop against them than pugs. Obviously you are going to lose to a premade, but you should at least not get one shot and be able to kill a few of them.
Do you know how many months it takes for someone to get rank 14? Because Sabetha conveniently explained it just a few posts above. A post that you’ve conveniently ignored. I’m done with being trolled, bye.
I sympathize with that perspective, but it’s not as if there’s an alternative in PvE that grants someone who’s willing to raid 12+ hours a day the same kind of gear. Correction, in Vanilla there was, but apparently in Classic there won’t be until 1-2 years after release.
The path to the greatest PvP gear won’t be to either raid or grind honor depending on preference - there will be a clear, heavily one sided, favorite. To some, maybe that’s a welcome change, but what exactly is authentic about it?
You will be able to fight back unless it’s something like you’re in quest greens. Just how good the PvP gear is compared to PvE gear is being overstated by the OP.
but if you’re running around in phase 3 without BWL gear then sure, you’ll probably get steamrolled by people who are rank 12+, especially if they’re running a pre-made.
Which is exactly how it’s going to be in phase 6 too, on top of the fact that you’ll also be steamrolled by people in AQ40 or Naxx gear.
“Pvp gear is a massive advantage…”
The reality is Pve weapons are on par or better than HWL weapons starting with Ragnaros… Nefarion weapons are outright superior to HWL ones ilvl wise (and a hell of a lot easier to get your hands on)
Warriors, Rogues and Hunters are favored to smash mc. Casters will still want mc and zg for toep/zhc, which pvp gear has no answer for.
As for pvp gear being ideal for pvp… Not really true either… Stamina really does not matter all that much in vanilla pvp after the bwl tier. Anyone geared is still going to global you as damage gains far exceed survivability gains for nearly every spec. The biggest gain from pvp gear is honestly that it’s not overflowing with hit (which is significantly less valuable in pvp as players are same level, rather than +3 elite mobs)
Finally, you still need to you know, win the ranking up race, which I find it adorable how many of you think you have anything close to a prayer of accomplishing. That goes double or even triple if pvp gear is perceived as being the “better” option to push for, because the competition will be insane.
Slaying Ragnaros doesn’t magically bestow your guild with full T1. You have to farm it every week for months. On the other hand, a few weeks of grinding will grant you the blue armor. The faster choice is obvious. Slaying Nefarion doesn’t magically bestow your guild with full T2. Quite ironically it is indeed faster to grind Rank 13 if you can play every day.
Every rank past about 8 becomes almost twice the effort (without explaining all the math and stuff) to rank up the following week.
R12 is roughly the top 15-20 of the server (population changes this a little) for that week. That is after they slogged it through 1-11.
You have this all backwards my friend. It is far, far easier to just join a casual raid guild and raid BWL than rank up to 12-14. Most of the gear is better too.
Yes, that is going to happen. Not for everyone, but for the top 20 people on your server’s faction it surely will. That’s a lot more people than you seem to realize. Those people get that far by playing every single day. That means that after a month you’ll be fighting people with R12 gear. How many peices of T2 do you think you’ll have after 4 clears? A couple?
This character was a Rank 10 Warrior (when not tanking) with The Unstoppable Force. Trust me those full Bloodfang Rogues with Maladath and Chromatically Tempered Sword were NOT impressed.
Very few people will be getting to r13 in the few months before BWL at which point it would be easier to get T2 than to get to r13.
It takes months and that’s if you are in the top tier to move up a rank each week and sometimes at the lower ranks skip a rank, but the amount of people that can move up is capped. It is literally impossible for everyone to move up the ranks.
