Basically. Don’t get me wrong, I love PvP, but with only AB and WSG, there really won’t be much long-term PvP to do. I suppose the hour long WSGs will be fun, and any sort of WPvP that goes on, but that’s it. AV was going to be the main source of enjoyment from PvPers. With that gone, there won’t be much keeping them around.
We tried very hard to create a battle experience that felt like Warcraft; we want you to feel like you are part of a larger conflict, with the potential for lots of strategy and tactics beyond a simple mob of players crashing into each other.
I helped organize 5v5 World PvP tournaments and did tons of PvP. I only wound up doing AV once or twice a week for lols because it would take so long to complete them.
I’m sorry your main source of PvP enjoyment is SOLELY based so much around AV and feel like the decision to use 1.12 patch AV will affect your enjoyment of the game so thoroughly as to cause you to quit.
You have my sympathies you’re so invested in a… SWORD… BG.
No. You proved my point. I stated, at the very beginning, that people would still play at the start. They’d get their toons leveled, do their professions, complete the raids, etc. They’d do all of their things that they wanted to do. But that ultimately, people would stop playing due to the lack of replayability. With AV 1.12, the replayability of Classic drops, and such will ultimately be what kills the game.
Number of people playing something has nothing to do with the quality of that thing, but rather attraction to that thing. When classic releases there will still arguably be vastly more people playing modern WoW compared to classic. Does that mean that modern WoW is “better” than classic?
1.5 AV can also be zerged. 1.12 can also last for hours or days. It’s almost like it’s the players who decide how the match plays out and if people don’t want to always have a zerg they can chose to actually play defense.
“You don’t agree with me, so clearly you just want the modern version of AV, so go play modern WoW.”
Just ignore Broken, he’s the biggest self important jerk on the forums.
No one has to prove anything to you so stop being a jerk for no reason.
This is not an argument against anything. Hogger is a lvl 11 elite and not a single lvl 1 has a healing ability or the ability to do any significant damage.
1.12 doesn’t have reinforcements, so you can actually have real pvp in 1.12 on AV without having to worry about running out. Modern AV has reinforcements so you still have to worry about dying more so than in 1.12.
Really? Because several people in this forum will tell you people who are okay with 1.12 only want it so they can quickly get exalted with the AV reps and so they can go back to WSG and AB. Regardless of the truth of that (Barely any because it’s just a way to dismiss people they disagree with) WSG and AB take far, far, far longer to grind out the rep to exalted regardless of which version of AV they use.
“Popularity” does not equate to “better” or even “good”
Why do you keep ignoring the link I continue to cite, as if my preferred style of AV was what motivated it’s original design.
What part of “not all change is good” do you not understand? Vanilla was just a couple years out of 15 years, does that mean the current game is better?
This isn’t about me. This is about the playerbase. Yes, I too have done other forms of PvP. Most of my WoW experience has been chilling in Elwynn and meeting other PvPers. But most people don’t do go out and actively search for PvP. They would rather do instanced PvP. Hence why WPvP has been a dead concept for so long.
At the end of the day, we need an enjoyable, long-term instanced PvP to give PvPers something to play. Not everyone wants to play QUICK MATCH games. AV was supposed to basically be WPvP, but instanced. Long term, huge fights, ongoing, etc. Turning it into 40m zerg rushes will kill it, just like it did on retail.
If you don’t want to play a long-term, ongoing BG, just go queue for WSG or AB.
You are ignoring the fact that PLAYERS turn it into a Zerg rush. The long games you are remembering are from failed zergs that turned into long turtlematches.
For a short time, like everyone else. And then, when all is said and done, I, like everyone else, will pack their bags, because Classic won’t have anything to offer than retail can’t offer.
You can only kill Kel’thuzad so many times before it gets boring, lol.
Oh look who’s back with namecalling and horrible point of view, not to mention the one who famously claimed that moving the horde starting cave was the only real change between 1.5 and 1.12.
Yes, seriously, it is genuinely a counter argument to your POV.
In respect to classic “good game design” should be the original intent of the game design. You know, the link and page I keep citing that you continually ignore.

I think that the alliance side will be bigger than horde come classic due to paladin’s mainly, but more importantly will tauren’s have plains striding again
