Then let people have their fun. You don’t care about AV. Everyone else does. So let the people who care about their experience choose the direction of the game. You’ll go with whatever path that is taken. Others won’t.
PS: Blizzard also said Classic servers were never going to be a thing. Yet here we are. Try again.
No I do care about av. I love av. I love all versions of i it. I prefer some more than others. This is the product of actually playing all of them and enjoying it. You probably started your AV journeys in 2009.
To be fair, gear lost a lot of its value when abilities like Greater Pyroblast were put into the game. IE: Abilities that’s damage scales based on your target’s max healthpool, lol.
Greater Pyroblast does 35% of someone’s max health in damage, for example.
But again, I don’t feel the need to prove anything to you.
And again, if you love all versions of AV, then let the players who have genuine opinions choose the course as to which we’ll play. I dislike AV 1.12, I do however love AV 1.5. You love both. So naturally that means I would be the one to pick, as you will be happy with whichever choice, and I will not.
Could you imagine being a DM, creating a campaign for your players with various facets and fun mini-tasks that all worked toward the longterm goal, and that campaign would be run repeatedly? Could you then imagine the players saying it is too long, cannot be done in one sitting and that they just want to kill the final boss so they can get the loot, and can you further imagine actually caving to their whim?
Well, it slows down the matches and helps prevent a zerg and your better gear still makes you stronger against other players. We could debate the merits of this change but it doesn’t matter.
The point I was making was that people have been constantly claiming that 1.12 AV is virtually BfA AV and that’s just not the case.
1.12 AV is watered down, yes.
1.12 AV is going to be faster overall than earlier iterations would be, yes.
1.12 AV has huge, empty swathes of battlefield due to the removal of NPCs, yes.
if you watch that video i linked, you’d see that it actually sounds like itd be fun and interesting. since it’s pvp and pve combined, it’s like additional pve content. me likes it.
Yeah, I’m not going to argue that because that’s an opinion. I’m almost solely posting here trying to stop arguments being made in bad faith. If someone tells another player that likes 1.12 AV to go play BfA AV because they’re virtually or literally the same, that’s dishonest.
Blizzard isn’t going to cave and implement 1.5 AV because people are screaming “go play BfA AV, it’s the same as 1.12 AV!”
Blizzard might work to bring back some of what’s missing from 1.12 AV if we make sound reasons as to why they should do so, instead of telling people to go back to retail if they want 1.12 AV.
BFA AV is better than 1.12 AV. 1.12 AV is the AV that we’ve had for over a decade that everyone hated. BFA AV has some buffed NPCs. It’s definitely not great, but it’s at least a step up from what we’ve had for so long.
i get what you’re saying, but BFA AV is much closer to AV 1.12 than AV 1.12 is to AV 1.5. BFA AV and AV 1.12 are super similar, so it’s pretty easy for players to draw a comparison between the two.
The sad truth is many players don’t even think of WoW as a game anymore. They’ve been conditioned that the journey means nothing. It’s just a gear treadmill. The irony being that the gear has become meaningless. Scaling, as you mention, negates a large part of the progression. But on top of that, gear is given out like candy anyway. So no one cares about getting gear anymore. It’s just about efficiency: how quickly can I get it. How little effort can I put forth, etc.
Hence the appeal of 1.12 AV. The zerg version. Run to the enemy base, and hope you kill the General before the other team does. If so, great. If not, no big deal. Quick loss is better than a long win. The notion of entering an AV and playing for a few hours in a single battle…just to spend a few hours in a single battle is so foreign to these people they can’t even fathom the appeal. So it’s no surprise to me why they prefer 1.12 AV. They’ve been brainwashed to think this is how mmo content and rewards should be done.
Similar in terms of content, not in mechanics. BfA AV has reinforcements and some smaller technical changes as well as NPC scaling to match your gear. The scaling by itself makes it nothing like 1.12 (mechanically, not visually). Not to mention, 1.12 AV and 1.5 AV at least had similar Class design and systems. I think you can use Shroud of Concealment in AV in BfA, that’s a crazy difference between the two.
Oh and Goblin Gliders, being able to glide over the Horde group by climbing the hill near Icewing Bunker and flying over them is kinda crazy.
