True Horde players remember the whole point of the new Horde, which was to avoid the bloodthirsty legacy of the previous.
The history up until recent expansions say otherwise.
For the HORDE
But it’s okay if you like playing red alliance. Being the bad guy isn’t for everyone. That is why the blue team was made though.
I hate the Alliance. Only good thing about them is Dwarves.
But I appreciate Alliance scum telling me about my history (which starts with Thrall in the aforementioned manner, avoiding the bloodthirsty legacy.)
I mean, I only play alliance now because my feelings on the matter is if they going to force me to play as alliance I may as well be an actual alliance character. Horde has no identity anymore, it’s not worth playing.
We should have kept the council, it was the most Horde thing we’d gotten since WoW launched. Horde is a disparate faction of species the Alliance used to deem “uncouth” but that was all but scrubbed from Alliance’s writing.
Frankly I’d argue Alliance has lost more identity, the only people I ever see arguing otherwise (about Horde’s identity, editing this in realizing my wording was confusing) are weird “Red bad Blue good” crowds.
And how exactly do you defend this position when you see so little screen time in the expansion? The best you get is maybe Thrall kind of just idly standing there? Idk. I think it’s just an Alliances game now. Horde is so lost the devs can’t even bother to try to write a story for them.
Because it’s unrelated to how much screen time we’re getting in the expansion.
It’s not like Alliance is getting sweeping additions to their lore, it’s just the Dwarves.
The manabomb is 100% the smartest thing the Horde ever created. Mana-bombs should’ve been used more if the power could’ve been replicated.
Black Empire giving you hell? Mana-bomb.
Void lady not shutting up? Mana-bomb
Spider people? Mana-bomb
Legion Invasion? Mana-Bomb
Then again, Blood elves keep getting all these new technologies and never used them past a single xpac.
Anywhoo we have a major elf alliance now, so maybe we’ll manabomb a void lord now. Why have a war chief when we could have a mana-bomb?
tbh cause funny enough.
Garrosh.

I am actually willing to go this route.
Although the way I’m imagining is rather the Warchief will manage the big picture day to day stuff work 1on 1 with leaders to address their unique needs while the Council will only meet to discuss anything that would affect the Horde as a whole. War, large-scale expeditions, expansion, diplomacy etc.
Expecting the faction war lovers to have played WC3 at all is a big ask
This, I think, is my main issue with the complaints that Legion had no horde rep (true of Argus, I guess, what with it being just Liadrin and Silgryn off to the side), but the Broken Isles lore tried to be pretty even with remembering all elves had ties to the place (rogues had to deal with Valeera’s ancestors’ ghosts, you had Moon Guard night elves planning trips to Silvermoon and all that) on top of a whole Tauren zone (still fair that Baine should probably have been there for completeness).
It’s mostly because Anduin and Alleria are front and center, I think. It is a little annoying, but it’s not like Anduin and Alleria getting character development is doing much for the average Alliance player.
I dunno. When your weapons start growing eyes, you MIGHT be evil.
This would be the exact reason why we moved away from having a warchief.
This would again give the power back to the warchief who rise up again and we are back to the issues which sylvannas and garosh out us through.
Your suggestion again brings into question who would be the warchief if we go that route.
The orcs will never be under anyone else’s leadership unless it is an Orc. Since thrall is our leader and he does not want to be the warchief.
Hence what we have now the council. Each leader looks after his people.
What we need now is leadership roles. Not a warchief.
Or if we really want to make this spicy.
We need someone to cause a rift between anduin and thrall. Thrall desperately wants to be in good books with him.
Could Aleria influence him and cause a rift ? She has displayed multiple times she is not stable and Xal can easily manipulate her.
Horde will then look up to a leader. Thrall will have to take the mantle then.
Your response to my post leads me to believe you read the first line and nothing else.
What are you talking about?
Thrall lead the horde after the trolls and tauren joined it all the way through the end of Wrath, when he stepped down and passed the title of Warchief to Garrosh, another orc.
It wasn’t until the end of MoP when Vol’jin took over because Garrosh was removed from power.
The non-orc races did not immediately try to remove the orcs from leadership of the horde.
Alliance has definitely lost it’s identity it’s edge they used to be quite gray too but Alliance players hated that and that’s how the genocide of Vulpera in Vol’dun got “Alliance washed”.
As for Horde it’s not that they’re a “red Alliance” like people love to scream all over the forums but that rather then hire consultants on cultures Horde races are based around which would cost Money Blizzard seemingly opted to just Whitewash Horde characters and reduce their presence in the story.
No I read your post.
Hence I mentioned a non orc warchief is not possible. I mean it is but it would have to a new expansion to build them.
Maybe now who knows.
Sylvanas was a non orc who was accepted because she was not scared to go to battle.
Voljin was a non orc who became the warchief. But only after showing his courage and overthrowing garosh.
Baine and lorethe would need to display this in battle to earn the orcs.
What is more easier is creating a situation for thrall to step up. He already hates being a warchief due to complex diplomacy.
He will be perfect.
Or we have this council.
Its not exactly easy to wage war though. The war is over. Deal with it. Never ending war is also an impossibility.
