WC3 Reforged Campaign Crashing

tried this…didn’t work I had faith after 10 mins haha

thanks tho

I just recently bought it because my discs are all at my parents house far away. These crashes are driving me INSANE! This needs to be fixed. I don’t foresee Blizzard doing anything though… bunch of HOOOPLAH!!!

So Blizzard - are you going to do ANYTHING about this issue? or are you just going to circle jerk each other and count your money ?!

idk if this fix will work for everyone else but I deleted all the other saved files on the campaign and I was able to finish a level that kept crashing every 5 min or so. There was a ton of saved games from autosaves. The level was Gates of the Abyss

deleted all saved games - the game still crashes after 3 min inside the campaign

Mine crashes after a campaign mission win

I also confirm the crashes, sent multiple report from all of them.
Drivers were just updated, it keeps crashing as before, I am using the NVIDIA recommended video settings , the same before and after:
1 - random crashing when switching/scrolling to new area
2 - constant crashing after winning a mission, the scroll pointer disappears and if you press continue with the shortcut or by guessing where you can press the button you are given an immediate defeat screen, no loading of the mission.

I didn’t even see this crashes marked on the bugs list … is the s**** multiplayer the only thing blizzard thinks about ???

This need to be resolved!!! I am expericning the same issue as the last user.
1 - random crashing when switching/scrolling to new area
2 - constant crashing after winning a mission, the scroll pointer disappears and if you press continue with the shortcut or by guessing where you can press the button you are given an immediate defeat screen, no loading of the mission.

please have an update on this as we all are tring to enjoy this game that we clearly paid for!!! this should be unaccecptable for a company like blizzard. Before an update is pushed out they should had tested the updated first!!!
This is really annoying!

For those of you getting the results screen no-pointer bug/crash, I’ve found some workarounds.

First, to recap on the issue, as far as I’ve witnessed:

– Classic Graphics –
When you finish a level and are on the results screen, if you press [CONTINUE], your mouse cursor disappears. If you attempt to load the next level (by blindly moving your invisible cursor over buttons to highlight them and clicking), one of two things will happen:

  1. The screen fades out as if to start loading a level, but then immediately loads back into a “DEFEAT” results screen, with all values set to 0.
  2. Your mouse pointer reappears briefly as the game fades out into a load; the game crashes to desktop during the loading screen.

– Reforged Graphics –
I haven’t actually been able to reproduce this bug when set to Reforged graphics; hitting [CONTINUE] loads the next level as expected.

– Workarounds –

Ultimately, I believe the mouse cursor disappearing is the root cause of crashing. Anything you can do to prevent it from disappearing in the first place, or getting it back before attempting to load the next mission will prevent the game from crashing.

As a result, there are two relatively simple workarounds to keep your cursor on screen:

  1. Instead of hitting [CONTINUE] on the results screen, just hit [BACK/Esc]. It’ll throw you back to the mission list, but your mouse cursor will remain; selecting the next mission will load as expected.

  2. If you DID hit [CONTINUE] and your mouse cursor disappears, before trying to load the next level return to the main menu via [BACK/Esc].
When on the main menu, click [Versus] – which will inexplicably bring the cursor back – at which point you can go back to the campaign menu and load the next level.

(this is kind of a pain as you have to travel some 8-9 menus round-trip, but it works. there may be other menus which bring the cursor back, but Versus was the first one I stumbled on)

Hope this helps anyone dealing with this bug!

I have this exact problem but with reforged graphics, hitting back in the results screen and selecting next mission will prevent the crash caused by disappearing mouse cursor.

But sentinels chapter 4 keeps crashing… had to save like every 2 minutes, game crashed to desktop like 20 times during this mission, have played all chapters before this. PC itself is rocksolid. All that was needed to make the game crash was going to the upper left corner of the map where you are supposed to get the runner in a boat. Sending the boat there blind without looking where it went got me trough the mission.

This is the second time i’m playing trough the reforged version, first time was at lauch and there was no problems, now with updates the campaign is sooo broken.

If anyone is still interested, putting Particles into low and deleting all auto saved games solved partially the issue for me. It was crashing like every minute and now at least I can play 20 minutes in the campaign without any crash.

Still, that this error continues after all these months… What they have done to you Blizzard? :disappointed_relieved:

This is insane. The game is truly unplayable. My plans for the night are ruined.

Game just crashes arbitrarily between 5 to 10 mins in. This machine is top of the line and plays all games at max specs w/o crashing.

Still broken, the Alliance Campaign crash radomly, its unplayable.

Still broken. I cant get through the Maeve questline. Crashes over and over again.

My game crashes every few seconds at mission Wrath of the Betrayer

Turn spell effects to low, do not load from a checkpoint, and delete all the crash logs in your warcraft 3 documents folder.

Same here.
Until that mission it crashed like every three missions and it was bearable.
Now can’t proceed, crashes few seconds into the mission, right after main objective has been revealed. What a sh*t show.

This didn’t do any difference.

It was spell effects WITH particle effects that did the trick.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
