dont understand how could be without it for a month and half dowload a new patch that supposedly fixes it and then just disappear no updates. i suppose because they already have our money and its an old game they could care less about their customers
Fun note: the BattleZone port is available on the mac app store! Search up Battlezone 98 for a great RTS experience, set in 1st person. Build, arm, shoot, run. Tower games, etc - ancient Activision games older than Wc3 are just FINE to play on mac, even RTS with multiplayer and very well “reforged” engine & graphics by Rebellion Games.
Activision has Rebellion’s contact info, blizzers – you should call and ask for permission to contact them.
No one ever questioned that.
But bugs, technical isses, etc happen, and they cannot be fixed with the snap of a finger. The fact that bugs happen and don’t get fixed instantly does not mean that they are not supporting it anymore. There is also no established time limit for fixing of said issues either from a legal perspective. And that line of argument won’t work anyway because they offer refunds if you buy the game and it doesn’t work.
A few ppl have tossed around this idea they could do a class action and these sorts of suits almost always fail (and when they win, the lawyers get most of the money and you get slightly more than diddly poop- this is why you constantly see advertisements for class actions- the lawyers aren’t in it for you, they’re in it for themselves)
Finally, support does NOT have to be maintained indefinitely either. Support for this that and the other thing has been dropped throughout the history of software development. You can’t sue because they dropped support, it’s an assumed risk. I’ve played Final Fantasy XI for over 20 years (similar to war3, actually). several yerars ago they dropped support for the Playstation 2- not so much becuase they wanted to get rid of it but because there weren’t enough working dev kits remaining in existence for them to keep working on the PS2 version. No class action lawsuit occurred.
This whole thread exist because of an entirely justified frustration in the playerbasse. These comments are reactionary to patience that is running or has run out and that’s entirely understandable. But it doesn’t help to say things like this because 1) it’s not actually true, if they actually intended to drop support they could aboslutely do so, and 2) there aren’t any legal consequences for such an action.
I don’t want you to stop yelling about this or anything like that- I’m simply addressing this specific point you mentioned. Now, all of this might change if the EU passes a law against shutting down live service games, which isn’t that likely but could happen. But for now, the TLDR is
- they’re not dropping support, its a bug, it will be fixed eventually.
- If they actually wanted to, they absolutely could drop support and it would be sucks to be you with no chance of a lawsuit succeeding, even for the original game which is technically still playable.

The game dev industry generally doesn’t work weekends. its one o dem 9-5 M-F jobs more often than not.
In this instance they should have developers working over time considering this was a major Patch that claimed to had fixed preexisting issues AND HAS NOT.
You know, you’re not wrong, actually on that first part. But that’s not what’s happening.
Outside of pre-game-release crunch time, its extremely rare for something like that to happen.
They DID fix the preexisting issue. The problem is a NEW issue. The “can’t launch the game because the app itself doesn’t exist” issue was, in fact, fixed. This issue is a login issue.
same error here. its so disappointing bought a mac and happy i could play then update made impossible to start, now i can start and not login! Surely there has to be a workaround
Unfortunately there isn’t, or everyone would be playng already… Just relax and wait for monday to roll around for a fix or update on the situation…z
The only workaround is to use multi-booting, or virtualization tools like Parallels to run the Windows version while you wait for the Mac version to be fixed.

What’s frustrating is that it was working on Mac perfectly 60 days or whatever ago. They should have rolled back the patch that broke it immediately and then started from there.
