Native Linux Support

Dear Blizzard,
I would like to start this off by saying I love your games. Your work represents a significant portion of my childhood. We all had a great time back when Windows was more user friendly, but things have changed and that means adapting to new platforms.
The hard truth is, you yourselves have been taking some steps that old fans of your games have greatly disliked. That said, I’m willing to come to the table if you make Linux support for your games. We can forget about mistakes and move forward if you’re willing to be the one to extend an olive branch.
Respectfully,
Garman12

This is something that’s been posted about since the beginning of Blizzard, across all their games. And your not up against someone not willing to ‘forget mistakes’ or not ‘extending olive branches’. It’s the lack of market share.

Thus, it’s pretty clear cut and straight forward. It’s not really going to ever come to fruition with Linux having ~2% market share, unfortunately.

Linux support makes it insta-buy for me too.

+1, please Blizzard, support linux.

That would be great

I’d be happy if they even just made sure that it will work and be stable with the current compatibility tools for playing windows games on linux. Surely they can spare the manpower to help get a platinum rated lutris configuration.

I created a Lutris install script already and so far it works flawlessly.

this is certainly good, but we need an official client from Blizzard, with normal long-term support, all future patches, and not so that after each patch we will look for how to assemble the game in parts again.

+1 for linux support

I have a 5 year old machine (pretty decent at that time with an i7, but sadly no dedicated CPU and only partly support for vulkan) and the game has about 5-8 FPS. I guess that the 8GB of RAM are not sufficient, but other than that, I am clueless if there is anything to improve on.

Which flags and settings do you run it with? What is your setup?

I am already happy if it runs in wine without major problems.
And since last big update it does for me. (before that it also ran but had some problems)
Actually at the moment it runs better on Arch Linux with wine-staging than it runs on my windows 10 installation (on the same machine).

+1 Linux, thx

They have too much on their plates to even consider this as an option. Plays flawlessly in wine anyways.

+1 for linux +1 for wc3

please add linux support blizzard!

Cmon Blizz, I quited Starcraft because it had a lousy performance through wine. The only game I barely am able to play on Linux is Hearthstone, but Real time Strategy Games are forbidden to us.

The menu has more lag under Linux but the game itself runs better for me under Linux than it does under Windows 10.

Let’s wait til PC BSODs, MAC graphics errors and general bugs/crashes/freezes/stutterings are fixed and then maybe we can discuss about Linux

use the Lutris installer and then delete the dxvk caches from the root folder of the wineprefix made by the Lutris installer as well as all of the dxgi logs from the folders in the WC3 folder.
That’s how I got Reforged to run. Unfortunately, it is not worthwhile as a massive downgrade from Classic.
