Native Linux Support

I have Warcraft Reforged in my Windows laptop but I’d also like to play in my Linux Mint natively. I use Linux because in general this system is safer and stable than Windows. I love Reforged, their graphics are amazing. I’m thankful with Blizzard for their wonderful work.

You can use the Warcraft III reforged installer for lutris and the. Once you log into battle.net, you can select your Warcraft III folder on your windows partition. The game runs great under Linux. Menu is slow but it’s only slightly better under Windows.

Recently I tried the game with wine-5.11 (Staging) / Arch Linux in classic mode (since I didn’t buy Reforged). It runs pretty smooth. Campaigns work, I also played 1 DotA match in Bnet. It worked flawless. The game was a little dark, but this is easy to fix. I didn’t test the World Editor though.

So in my opinion everyone who wants to play WC3 in Linux should try wine instead of waiting for Blizzard to add Native Linux Support which might never happen. Or just run a dualboot system: Windows for gaming, Linux for serious stuff
