The problem was that in an event focused primary in Pc gamers you CAN’T talk about a game focus ONLY on phone and say that for the next year you will split a lot of your resources in this area and don’t give ANYTHING for that playerbase (the Diablo one) for pc.
And when people ask “is this an’april joke?” They have the courage to say “you guys don’t have phones?”. In that blizzcon they lost so much that only with this blizzcon they recover only a little of what lost with Diablo 4.
At least David Kim’s current blog posts about Diablo 4’s development is such a dramatically breath of fresh air from Blizzard. Being open about changing things and responding to feedback because they’ve still got a bunch of stuff up on the drawing board and with how early they are in development.
Let’s talk about SC FPS first…
We know a lot of Blizzard games that had been closed even when they’re almost finished, just because they aren’t good enough.
Lord of the Clans - Russian Quest about Thrall that was planned to be released at 2001
SC: Ghost
A lot of WoW expansions
You Miss the point. Look from the POV of the Diablo fan. Is like you have Warcraft 3 for years and suddenly they announce a “Warcraft strategy” but only for phone and they say nothing about the pc games like they literally focus now on phone and leave you with your pc apart, like “we don’t care about you”.
You can still hope for the next year on Warcraft 4 or other things but for now you have only a phone games and a message when they focus for the future more on mobile games.
For me is not a good news if I was waiting for years for news about a pc game for continue the legacy of Warcraft and get a mobile game.
“We know a lot of Blizzard games that had been closed”.
You listed two with the other example being dubious. I’m not finding anything about any cancelled World of Warcraft expansions at all. A lot of titles from the 90’s, but nothing about WoW expansions. So you’re gonna have to provide a source on that.
My reaction would be “Oh cool! A new game based on my favorite franchise. I’m not a big mobile fan but I’ll give it a try,it might be really cool. Now I have something to play while I’m waiting other games or 2019 anouncess”
So, again. Three games of note (Ghost, Lord of the Clans, Titan) with the most recent one of Ares. And then a bunch of games from the 90’s that I doubt many people would have ever heard of. Yes, for your point they do cancel things. There’s still nothing about WoW expansions though.
Or anything about any of my other original criticisms of Blizzard in regards to their game development or company PR and image.
They cancelled SC shooter that wasn’t good enough to create something that fans truly wants
“You asked for a Diablo IV and full storyline PVE Overwatch? Here it is!”
"One source said development appeared to be coming along slowly, but others said it was “looking quite good” and that the cancellation came as “a massive shock.” " https://www.pcgamer.com/blizzard-has-reportedly-cancelled-another-starcraft-2-shooter/
Blizzard itself seems to want some sort of Starcraft action game. Remember Starcraft: Ghost? Blizzard does. They even made a novel and a DLC campaign in Starcraft 2 with Nova as the protagonist. She’s also in the one and only Heroes of the Storm cinematic. Granted a character doesn’t make a game but the origin of said character is kind of poignant.
Personally speaking, Starcraft is overdue for a genre hopping entry like how Warcraft got Hearthstone. It’d make sense for it to be another action game even if it’s not an RTS.
One one hand - Shooter based on a Starcraft
Shooter for people who’s used to mostly slow RTS matches
A game from a completely different ganre, for a company with only 1 shooter game
Or
Beloved Diablo IV with Dark atmosphere of the first games. A game created for fans after Diablo Immortal - A sign for community to be heard
And Overwatch 2,which was in fans dreams for a while ago. - A game when they can watch more cinematics, hear more dialogues,a game with it’s onw story After the events of OV1. Play the game with 3 friends in a long story missions, with level up system and castomization, with new graphics and designs, with new mechanics and a lot more Lore
Not just one boring even mission but a whole new story
It doesn’t have to be a case of (A) or (B). This is a triple A game development company that made 7.5 billion dollars in revenue in 2018 that laid off 800 employees and then promised to hire on more for the purpose of game development.
