BattleDOTnet auto updated itself and after restarting, it doesn’t show any content. Just the Blizzard/partner game list on the left and the menu on top. No actual game content, “Play” button in the main section. So I can’t start SC2.
I tried starting SC2 from the Programs menu but that doesn’t work either. It just creates a “Starcraft II.exe” process (seen in Task Manager) and then that just switches off (disappears from the Processes list).
Side note: the BNet app dropped auto-Alt-Tabbed me out of a game to notify me of the app update. Game was still running so could back to it. Annoying pop up.
Edit, more details: Once the app starts, I see the animated loading-triangle, and after a while nothing. Just two boxes at the top left which don’t do anything when clicked.
Edit2, partial workaround: Launching from C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II\Support\SC2Switcher.exe works to start SC2. On the first run at least, it stays stuck on “initializing game mode” (for co-op) for quite a while before being playable.
Hey there,
This may be a display issue with the Battle.net app due to older graphics drivers. I’d first make sure that you are using the latest drivers for your video card.
You can also try clearing the Battle.net tools and cache folders, then restart the app so it will refresh everything.
1. Hit Windows key + R
2. Type the following into the Run window and hit Enter: %programdata%
3. Delete the Battle.net and Blizzard folders inside the programdata folder.
4. Restart the Battle.net app via the shortcut icon
If you’re still seeing the same issue go ahead and post a DXDIAG for us.
DXDIAG:
- Press Windows Key + R.
- In the Run window type dxdiag and press Enter.
- In the DirectX window, click Save All Information.
- Name the file “dxdiag” and save it to your Desktop. Open the new dxdiag file with Notepad.
- In the posting section here hit the </> button for “Preformatted text” then paste (Ctrl+V) the DXDIAG contents. That’ll make the information much more readable.
If you are unable to post this due to the length of the DXDIAG, please feel free to use pastebin.com and share the link with us instead. Use the </> button as well in order to share the link.

That appears to have made things worse. Now when I open the Battlenet app, I get: “oops, an error occurred while loading game information” and it posts a redirect to https://nydus.battle.net/App/enUS/client/error/BLZBNTBNA00000006?targetRegion=US&code=6
which resolves to https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/18771
.
I’m on a 2012-2013 machine, Win7. I doubt there are new/latest drivers anymore.
Hey again,
Sounds like the Battle.net app is not able to download the files it needs to run properly. Try running a new Battle.net installer on top of the install that you already have, and see if that gets those extra files downloaded.
In some cases that BLZBNTBNA00000006 error can be caused by having the Battle.net app installed on a secondary drive, so if that’s the case here you may want to try uninstalling it and move it to the C: drive.
If you have a different connection that you can try as well that may help narrow things down. If there’s a problem where your PC can’t communicate with the Battle.net servers properly it can cause all of the symptoms that you are seeing. Try connecting through a mobile hotspot or a VPN temporarily to see if that gets everything downloaded, and if it works try switching back to the normal connection.
Yes, this worked.
Not in my case. However, that’s a pretty standard thing to do, the app really should be able to deal with installs not on C: drive.
This happens quite frequently. I get the in-game notice that SC2 can’t connect with Battlenet and in the background I can see my profile loaded and chats scrolling along on the bottom right side :-\ I suspect the issue is not with my connection
thanks fam it worked
