Unable to Authorise - outage on battlenet servers

Hi I have recently installed Starcraft 2 after many years, on a new laptop. I bought a CD copy and am unable to authorise the game - so cant play it online or offline. I have been trying for a week, and this is very frustrating. I have done all the trouble shooting steps, dont have any specific firewalls - windows firewalls settings has been checked, ive tried on all 3 servers, US, europe, asia. However am still unable to connect to authorise starcraft in order to play it? any suggestions? help? thanks alot

Like Winter asked, if its previously used you’d be out of luck, new laptop i would have bought a digital copy from the bliz store. Sorry to hear about this, hopefully you can get it sorted and jump into some games soon!!

I have previuosly used it only. i Bought it new, although years ago. But im not even able to connect to even enter the CD authorisation code, it just doesnt let me connect to the servers for some reason…

the cd authorizion need done on your battlenet account out of game, in your account setting on there internet site

Hey apia6929,

Don’t use the CD to install. Instead, use the BDA (game launcher) to install it. That will instantly install the most current version.

For your CD Key, register it in your Battlenet account in the “Redeem a Code” field. That will permanently grant the SC2 license on that Battlenet account.

Just make sure to log into the launcher and the Battlenet website with the same account.

hmm still doesnt work - it seems like its just not able to authorise… is that authorise issue because i need the battlenet app on the phone to authorise, or is it for the CD key authorisation… it seems that it has remembered my initial registertration for the game via the authorisation key from years ago. Do you need the app to access the game? ive tried installing the app and creating the authorisation but didnt help…

There was an issue affecting some players the last two days that was preventing logins. When you have a chance try it again.

If it still doesn’t work, what errors are you getting when you try to launch the game?

The launcher isn’t 100% necessary to launch the games. It essentially just passes your login credentials directly to the games so that you don’t have to manually log in every time.

The launcher is necessary when game updates are sent out. It’s needed to apply the updates.
