I’ve heard that theory before, no idea where it’s come from though
yeah dont know where it came from either. but would make sense. that or he is some kind of crazy starcraft mutant they hide in a basement and make him play sc2 all day long.
why are we talking about maxpax when the topic here is F2 a move zerg and toss
why do you care? and because max pax was brought up. thats why. maybe read
I’ve heard the theory that maxpax is royalty but I favor the other two theories:
- MaxPax is life who immigrated & changed his name.
- MaxPax is the continuation of Deepmind’s research on AlphaStar.
They didn’t play many games with their protoss agent in the AlphaStar paper. It had an 80% ish winrate. If you calculate the mmr value it would need in order to be 50/50 in win-rate, it would be right at the mmr value that maxpax is currently at.
The reason I am skeptical about the “danish royalty” theory is that if you wanted to protect your identity you’d never let something like that slip. That sounds more like something Life would do to throw people off his tracks or cover story Deepmind would create so people don’t start to be suspicious of MaxPax.
nah, hes definitly a mutant who only plays sc2 and some ones got him locked up in a basement somewhere, telling him to play sc2 or he gets the hose again.
Also, the probability of danish royalty being good at SC2 is insanely low. There’s, what, maybe 100 people in danish royalty but MaxPax is the best Protoss in like 5 million players. The probability of that is insanely low. Also, what’s the incentive? A rich kid getting $10k for winning a tournament is like pennies. Life on the other hand we already know was very good and he has a strong incentive to play. The same is true for AlphaStar. The conditional probability calculated out using Baye’s theorem says its much more likely to be AlphaStar or Life given the fact that we already know those two are good.
Imagine if we are looking for a bank robber. We have two suspects. One is a career criminal who was arrested on many burglary charges in the past. The other is a priest. Obviously it’s much more likely to be the career criminal because being a criminal is rare and we already know he’s a criminal while in the case of the priest it’s probably not true since criminality is rare. Of the two, it’s drastically more likely that the career criminal robbed the bank.
The same logic applies here. MaxPax’s level of skill is so insanely rare that of the three suspects the one that are known to have that skill level already are much more likely to be him than the one that we have no reason to believe is that skilled.
Hasn’t MaxPax been ‘verified’ by some body or another (ESL maybe)? I would have thought if it was Life, he wouldn’t have been allowed to compete in anything. As hype as the return of the King of Lings would be, I think that might be copium
Life was only banned from Kespa events. Kespa isn’t a thing anymore.
True, but his name was muddied so to speak
Which is why in theory if he changed his name and immigrated to another country he could still compete as long as he never did a video call that would potentially reveal is identity. Even then he might be OK to do it if he were to wear a wig or something like that.
A wig, and a set of really big glasses with a big nose and mustache attached
I guess the best way to tell would be to see MaxPax’s offrace. I believe I watched him play as Terran the other day, and he looked convincingly good, but I feel like in terms of raw skill as a Zerg you could probably only put Serral (and maybe Dark or Rogue on a good day) as being as good as Life was (or would be if he has continued to play)
You’d be surprised how simply changing your hairstyle is plenty. James Okeef, who is probably the most famous under cover journalist of our time, still keeps catching people on the hot mic admitting to embarrassing stuff. The average human being can only recognize about 150 people, but there are billions on Earth. The probability you’d be recognized is near zero unless they held up a photo next to your face.
I guess in the Life is MaxPax theory you’d have to rationalize that away as him not having played Zerg in a very long time.
Does make me wonder how Life would handle the current metas. Dark seems to favour doing ravager-ling all-ins in both ZvT and ZvP, Rogue and especially Serral are incredibly capable lategame players. I imagine Life would be more of the school of thought that Dark seems to subscribe to, definitely the more traditional Korean way of playing Zerg, I don’t remember Life having many matches that went to the lategame, so it’d be interesting to see how well he’d control that super lategame broodlord/viper/infestor/corruptor/queen/spore army
EXPERIMENT TIME!
It’s an extremely famous person. This is crazy hard dude. Absolutely nobody is going to guess who this is lmao.
