TIL: The Starcraft universe has a planet colonized by Mormons

I knew you had a hard-on for Hanson since you once said on the Co-op side of the forums that she’s a more important character than Tychus.

I found Stetmann equally dull most of the time, save the red stapler reference.

Born to be wild.

That’s what I was thinking.

Wouldn’t you wanna hit that?

Lot of your problems concern the Zerg. So… yeah.

Even then

Mar Sara

#1 We blow up holoboards and an HQ
#2 We blow up Dominion base
#3 We blow up Zerg to save our skin, it’s a holdout so it’s debatable

Colonists

#1 We blow up Zerg, but it’s not the main goal
#2 We blow up infested buildings
#3 We either blow up
#a Protoss
#b some more infested settlements

Covert

#1 Actually a mining mission (but blowing up all Zerg on Redstone III would have done everyone a favour)
#2 We blow up some Protoss to get their gas, but yeah blowing up isn’t the goal
#3 We either blow up
#a New Folsom (while using nukes)
#b Tosh’s base (while using nukes)

Rebellion

#1 We blow up trains
#2 We blow up Orlan’s base to “persuade him”
#3 We blow up an entire facility for the sake of subtlety
#4 We walk the Korhal city, while using freaking Odin
#5 We make Castanar go boom, because we accidentally let loose a Hybrid

Artifact

#1 We raid a temple full of fanatics. Stone Zealots need to be blown up.
#2 We laser drill a door to blow it up.
#3 We blow up data cores even though this evacuation mission
#4 We blow up a Protoss base while time pressured by a firewall
#5 We blow up systematically a Protoss base by dismantling rip fieds

Prophecy

#1 We mostly run, I’ll concede this one
#2 We blow up a base of mind controlled Protoss just to get rid of one Hybrid
#3 We just get to tendrils
#4 We basically lose this one
Char

#1 We blow up Nyduses threating Warfield
#2 We blow up
#a Nydus Network
#b Flier nests
#3 Holdout

When we ignore 3 Holdouts, the only missions where blowing stuff up isn’t the main goal are Evacuation, The Devil’s Playground Welcome to the Jungle, Whispers of Doom, Echoes of the Future.

So only 3 Raynor missions.

Mostly I love peaceful/civilian characters in military settings in general. Anduin is my favorite Warcraft character for a reason.

Tychus just provides another flavor of “lets kill everything that stands between us and our goals.” Hanson provides a totally new point of view, that don’t involve killing everything between points A and B.

She didn’t have problem with killing Infested on Meinhoff. All she provided with her cure stance was hypocrisy.

Not to mention that whole Safe Heaven demands a whole new thread to talk about its flaws.

From Raynor being able to take on Fleet of the Executor to the Infested suddenly being much lower in numbers and docile. Or the fact that Hanson has created cure for Infestation and it’s never ever mentioned again. And that’s just a start…

Please kill all the Zerg killing me.
Please kill all the Infestested harassing me.
Please kill all the Protoss trying to purge me.

For a peaceful civilian she sure has a lot of request for carnage and murder.

Evacuation doesn’t require killing all the Zerg.

I’m sorry, please eradicate at least the aggressive Zerg coming at us.

Still, if you look at the list above, it is among the least confrontational missions.

Maybe, but that don’t change my point one bit.

Come on. You act like, killing agressive, mindless Xenomorphs is a bad thing.

You act like Kerrigan on Kaldir.

Hold on there for a second, partner. I didn’t say killing in general is a bad thing.

Pretty sure Kerrigan’s issue on Kaldir was the Protoss would try to kill her personally, not the Zerg in general.

Karax is a civilian and he’s great. Abathur is the opposite of a combat strain and if Alarak didn’t exist he’d be the best character in the setting. It’s not a desire to blow thing up, it’s just that Hanson is really, really boring.

I think she was something of a wasted opportunity for Jim to be more open about what went down between him and Mengsk and Kerrigan to a sympathetic voice that doesn’t already know. Tychus sees a little bit, but doesn’t actually care that much.

Also, as a scientist, she’s all over the place. Is she a medical doctor or a physicist or what?

She’s a scientist. What else is there?

You still owe me a mini campaign story.

Kerrigan says to Lassarra something along the lines of Protoss killing billions of Zerg, when they talk about all the killing.

Some of the slain Zerg include strains like Scourge and Banelings…
