Starting game blacks out both monitors?

Sometime last week, starting up starcraft causes both my monitors to go blank and it just sits there. I can still tab out and the computer goes back to normal, but the display is completely black while the game is running. I’ve reinstalled and the issue persists.

Any idea what’s causing this?

That usually means that the game resolution isn’t jiving with fullscreen mode.

You can try:

  • Navigate to the Starcraft II folder that is in your Documents folder.
  • In the Starcraft II folder is a “Variables” or " Variables.txt" file.
  • Open that and find “displaymode” and set ot equal to 1.
  • Save and close the file. Relaunch SC2.

This will change the display mode from fullscreen to windowed-fullscreen which tends to be less picky about resolution.

I have had the issue of this happening when I go into the melee section of the arcade
