I have been playing SC2 with no issues for the past week. All of a sudden today the sound does not work. I tested my headphones with other things like youtube and pandora and I can hear sound on those websites. Also I noticed that I can’t hear anything if I have SC2 on in the background, the moment I exit the game I can hear sound again.

Hey, DirkHulk! The sound issues are usually related to permission or application conflicts. Would you happen to have Nahimic or Sonic Studio on the system? Try closing background applications and troubleshoot the windows sound settings.
