I’m still hopeful that Blizzard has something planned in the pipeline.

Like having co-op come out in a standalone game or with Starcraft 3. Which is very possible considering they said it will free up resources for something else in the Starcraft universe.

I doubt anything else co-op related will come out, unless it’s something minor and necessary. I’ve expected it for a while, but it’s sad that the announcement came out officially. GG co-op. Guess the prestige stuff was the last gift ever.

You better be working on Starcraft 3 then.

Not SC3…Koprulu Sector is going to be the next WoW expansion…(or SC: Ascension for mobile phones)

Later bros. I sorta already had 1 foot out the door, but I think this is time for the other.

It’s been a fun ride! See ya around for SC3 if it ever happens.

Wow… this was a HUGE disappointment! There were still plenty of characters left to become Commanders! Selendis, Tosh, Izsha, Valerian, Rohana, Niadra, etc.

Also no more Warchests? So, no building skin set for Purifier? No complete skin set for Royal guard? No skin sets for Nerazim? They were the last Protoss faction to get a skin set!

Game now feels incomplete! I’m heart broken! :broken_heart: :sob:

christ blizzard the fans could probably make better content cheaper and faster, be nice if we had the means to do so, if you’re going to kill off development open it up to modding or something.

It is open to modding…they have an Arcade section for mods

Hmm, much later than i expect but oh well.

Please a minute of silence for Sc2, because is already and officialy declared dead.

Luckly im one of those who doesnt surprise with the news, instead i was thinking why didnt say that sad news earlier.

One last thing they could do for Co Op would to be to add a separate tab in the Co Op section for custom community made maps and CO’s.

The reason Blizzard games have never truly died in the past is due to community made content. I was playing Warcraft 3 customs well past when WC3 went dark (before Reforged came out anyway), but the biggest problem that SC2 has ALWAYS had is that the support of its Arcade has been lacking compared to what it really should be.

But a lot of that, has to do with the playerbase in SC2 just being more expecting of constant developer made content rather than community created like we did in the past.

With SC2 moving on, after 10 years perhaps the community will once again pick up the flag like it did before. Hopefully even in “maintenence mode” Blizzard can keep adding tweaks to the UI to make finding those games easier.

There’s so many more things they could have done in Co-op… and I would’ve gladly continued to support the content by paying for it.

On the other hand, Prestige didn’t cost us any money, and it was one of the best changes ever to Co-op. Maybe there’s still hope. Although it’s highly unlikely they’ll just release free commanders, considering getting voice actors in the studio again is something different than doing Prestiges.

I would have loved to see the following things in Co-op…

  • Selendis
  • Tosh
  • Ji’nara
  • Valerian
  • Avenger (Daelaam Dark Templar)
  • Blood Hunter (Tal’darim Dark Templar)
  • Non-Purifier Tempests for another commander
  • Regular Mothership
  • Arbiters
  • Tal’darim capital ships (Ji’nara)
  • Spectres (Tosh)
  • Predators
  • Other Terran Elite variants like Gorgon Battlecruisers
  • Basically almost all the units which were seen in the campaign

Now, I already covered new commanders being unlikely as free content. However, again, considering that the Prestige patch was free although it was much needed content, there is a chance that we might get more units for the existing commanders…

Please, Blizzard, don’t let all those units go to waste. I would love to use Avengers in an Artanis Prestige, Blood Hunters on Alarak and so on. Or just added to their base kit, why not? Those units, for example, would fit those commanders really well.

It’s pretty impressive how Blizz manages to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory these days. Coop was lightning in a bottle from the start, but they never really managed to nail it or figure out what to do with it to really make it take off - and even then it was still ahead of vs. and arcade for a while if I remember right.

Still, no real surprise they’re dropping it now, it’s been obvious for a long time.

Only part that disappoints me is they didn’t leave anything open to the community; a way to let people contribute custom maps or even commanders could have given it more life. But I wouldn’t expect that from modern Blizzard anyways, so it’s not much of a surprise either.

If anything, I am a bit happy to have some finality in knowing not to bother hoping for further improvements, maybe we’ll be lucky enough to get some bugfixes.

Ded gaem confirmed.

Time to move on to AOE.

So much for Tosh as a commander.

Some words from a SC2 official commentator.
“Selendis did not make it to the actual game in the end. The design of this new hero was actually quite interesting! It is too bad that players won’t see her in the battle. I heard that she (i guess he meant mothership) would have two forms. Players would be able to switch between when dealing with different situation.”

Well, it is a shame!! WHY NOT iust finish it and release it as final commander. However, I can see some problems in designing commander. Switching between two forms… it is just like Nova. Having too many commanders will make new design problematic if one of goals of design is to avoid repetitive. I guess, Coop Dev. team runs out of inspiration…

Not only Selendis; but Tosh too! I was hoping Valerian would allow us to use some of those awesome Umojan skins also!

If they work on current Commanders; can Fenix/Talandar get the Purifier Archons? Please!

If Selendis being pushed out of the gate and then Blizz discontinue making cmd, it would be a worse uproar then what we have now thanks to the need for balancing between 3 races.
But if Selendis is out then Blizz would have to make another 2 cmd for Z and T.
