SC2 crashes with loud noise

SC2 sometimes crashes with a very loud noise and the screen turning into a rainbow-explosion. It happens rarely, but when it does I have to force-close my laptop to fix it. It sounds like a hardware problem to me, GPU overheating most likely, however, I play a lot of games, many of them far more demanding than SC2 and have never had such a thing happen to me. Due to me having to shut down the machine every time it happens, I don’t get an error message or anything.

I am on Win 10, everything is up to date, I’ve got a 1050 Ti and every other spec is very much on par as well. What could be causing this issue?

I think you’re on the right track with hardware unfortunately, having PC crashes with fancy colors/sounds typically means one of very few things such as an OS-level software conflict, drivers corruption, or hardware malfunction.

Some of these items we may address with online resources, but if that fails please be sure to reach out to a local PC tech for assistance.

Here’s what I got:

  1. Disabling background applications
  2. Repairing Windows
  3. Use DDU to uninstall the graphics drivers, then reinstall a fresh set.
