I always go into why the units are broken but I rarely go into why this unit or that unit is broken. well lets go into some of that now.
Lets start with blink stalkers. In a bubble they are not broken . Who cares about blink stalkers they are glass cannons. At the same time you have to have the perfect defense or its gg. And the perfect defense is a few bunkers marines and tanks. Thats not enough to say its broken its a counter right… Well lets go into the details of this interaction.
If you lose 1 tank its gg. more times than not you have to clear you natural. You have to over commit to defense. stim isnt ready by the time that this hits. med vacs are not out combat shields are not done when this time hits. In other words it is way harder to defend this attack the initiate it. Hence lies one of the problems in this match up. The simple solution to this it to eliminate blink from the game. That would instantly fix this. However we all know that will never happen so what is the fix.
Another fix to this is to revert depo building time and to revert barrack build time. Again this will not happen either. When I say that something is broken. I am not really picking on a unit. I am pointing out the b/s it takes to initiate a strategy versus defending it. just about ever interaction should have a 50/50 or defendable with the same amount of effort it takes to initiate said attack. This is one of the instances where that is clearly not the case. Its broken.
Exibit #2 shield batterries. Again this is not broken in a bubble. I mean shield batteries cannot attack anything. In an attack focus down the shield battery. It all sounds simple until you are in an actually fight. You cannot simply play through units to get to the shield battery. Well not without losing half your army so the proper response is to back off. which is a problem. but what ever. lets say that is fair.
What about proxie shield batteries. shield batteris with immortals. or more commonly now air units. We all know how this turns out once a couple shield batteries are put up. It is all but gg. now we have a structure that was supposed to be for defense now being used for offense. but the response is to scout this right. Well you cant always scout this.
So what is the problem. You have another strategy where it is easier to defend versus what it takes to initial said strategy. The shield battery thing is not just a PvT issue it is also broken in PvZ. You have a meme build where toss is letting zerg take the map. Zerg litterily have 7, 8, 9 bases to toss 4 they are not scouting and just building shield batteries at home and going straight to air.
I am not here to say nerf toss in to the dirt. What I am saying is that, how easy it is for toss to execute these 2 startegies it should be just as easy to defend it. If a hard counter is needed then that has to happen. There are other strats that I will go into but I will save that for another time.
Ive seen this coming as soon as that toss patch came out in 2018 and it has just got worst. And it continues to go down the drain. Are you going to tell me that speed buff to zealots was not a buff. You could nerf damage output even more and that is a overrall buff. You have zeals that are almost as fast as stimmed marines and they still have their guaranteed attack it… come on how is this fair.
PvX is broken. The game is broken clean up your trash blizzard.
My point of view on the Toss situation in another thread the problem is not the race it’s the econ changes due to 12W start.
"No matter what you do to the races at this point you won’t fix the problems of the game as from WOL onto HOTS SC2 was created and based around 6W early econ which flowed into the rest of the game. The early game that some complained was slow was actually the most important as what you did was even more significant due to less workers from taking a gas and so on imagine if in BW they patched the game to have 8W start you’d see the game have similar issues.
Call it a hot take if you want but the complaints you’re seeing about Protoss stem from this the race itself is not the problem nor is Toss broken for anyone who played SC2 from the beginning of WOL to now and remembers Toss was always the race that was behind a base and had a harder time defending but they made up for this by having a powerful late game and abilities that allowed them to fight from a deficit. Now Toss keep up in bases with Zergs and are ahead of the Terrans due to the new econ all the while they retained their perks from before no patch addressing units is going is going to sort this out as the problem is not due to the units themselves it’s due to a fundamental oversight when transitioning to LOTV."
The reason why Toss seems busted is because the econ allows them to afford a lot which is why you’re seeing many turtle to the skytoss madness as they can get a quick 3 bases safely and get a number of canons and SBs to protect their bases while they go up to that army imo Nexus canon was perfectly balance as defence mechanic they could replace the SB spell with it.
So, would ok for you give them proper stats then?, extra speed (they would need to be speedling fast levels of speed) or extra firepower?, or you just want to erase the hability that makes them useful?.
There is nothing to fix, there is no blink meta anymore, nowadays blink is just another strat that is not used very often.
I am in favor of a power boost. perhaps something similar to BW. Where Zs properly destroy lings like they should. but yeah. something should be done.
It is used. You just dont see it as often becuase it is not needed. Why go blink when you can use sheied batteries and turtle to air or perhaps some time of proxie shield battery forrest attack. but that still doesnt mean that bllink isnt a problem.
