Again it explicitly states “production time”. If production time is 100 seconds and is sped up 35%, 35% of 100 is 35 seconds, then the new production time is 65 seconds.
If the production time is 28 and the time is sped up by 35%, 35% of 28 seconds is 9.8 seconds, rounded to 10 seconds, so the new production time is 18 seconds.
If upgrade “speeds up production time by 100%” then it would be 100% of the production time, so 28, so it would be 0.
If the upgrade said instead, “speeds up production RATE by 100%” then it would be producing twice as fast, twice the RATE in the same amount of time. Then it would be 14 seconds production time or “speeds up production time by 50%”.
It does not say rate. It says time.
If it says sped up “production” and not “production time” i could see you point, but it doesn’t it say “production time”.

When you “speed up” production time, you are multiplying the production rate by 1 + the number that you post. “speeds up production time by 35%” explicitly means that you are increasing the production rate by 1.35, not dividing the production time by 0.65.
“Speeds up production time” and “speeds up production rate” mean the same thing. Speeding up production time by 100% is dividing by 2 (1 + 1), not subtracting 100% of the time.
Again, if it says “sped up production” then yes, that would refer to rate. It says “production time” referring to… the time… and speeding it up, aka reducing the time, by 35% which it what it does.
And they most certainly do not mean the same thing. As rate is production over time.
The operative words here are “speed up” and “reduce”.
“Reducing production time” means subtracting x% of the time.
“speeding up production time” or “slowing production time” means dividing/multiplying the production time by a factor.
If you “speed up” by 50%, then you complete the task in 33% less time, not “50%” less time.
Speed up means faster. Faster for time means less or reduce. Less time at a percentage is a reduction of the total time at that percentage, hence while 100% is zero.
If it were instead slowed production time by 35% it would be 135 seconds for 100 seconds.
Faster or slower is the direction. It’s still time, it explicitly does not say rate. It’s talking about the time it takes for production, 28 seconds and how much of that time is faster, it is 35% faster time.
Rate is different and while directly related is not interchangable as you say.
I’m sorry, but do you think that if you start running, and then you speed up by 100% of your current speed that you suddenly teleport? Because that is the kind of stupidity that you are putting on display here.
Speed is distance/time which is not time. So again you are conflating just as you have been entirely. If you increased your speed by 100% you would be 2x Distance/Time. So twice the distance in the same time.
If you say ran a mile in 8 minutes and then said you sped up your mile time by 100%, you would be teleporting yes, because Time does not mean Speed which is equal to Distance/Time.
You are just conflating Rate which is action/time with time, that’s the whole problem and you just keep doubling down.
I get it, you want it to be described as rate. That’s a fine thing to request, but that’s not what the patch notes say and they are still correct.
“Speed” is distance/time, but "speed up" means something entirely different.
“Speed up” refers to increasing the rate at which something happens. When running, this matches acceleration (i.e., increase in speed), not a flat speed. When talking about production time, it means increasing the rate that something is produced.
Speed up by x%, means that you are increasing the rate that something happens by x%.
Speed up by x%, means that you are “increasing the rate that something happens” by x%. That is not an x% reduction in time, it means that you divide the time by 1.x. Conversely, “slow down by x%” means that you instead divide the time by 1 - x to get the new value. “Slowing down” by 50% works out to 1/0.5 = 2x the normal time.
The only way that the 35% number works is if you are saying that the production time is “reduced” by 35%. If you say that you sped up the production time by 35%, then you are wrong.
“TIME” per unit is just saying a rate, the time is still just a time. If you speed up the time, it’s a percentage change to the time. 35% faster time, is 35% less time. Again it’s talking a percentage of time, if you add ther units, it’s no longer just time, it’s rate… yes they are related, that’s how rates work because it’s a unit per TIME.
You cannot say TIME is equal to unit per TIME. They directly related, but are not equal.
Dude for the millionth time (ha) speed up “production time” is not the same as speed up “production” or “production rate”. That’s what you keep conflating over and over and over and over.
Yes they are directly related. No they are not equal. Yes the patch notes are correct. And it’s fair of you to want to be expressed as % of rate, but that’s not how they did it and they did it correctly.
Not just time, production time. Production time isn’t “production x time” it’s its own thing. “Production time:” is not interchangeable with time as a variable.
