Ptr patch notes

Time is just time. That’s what they are changing the amount of time. Nothing to do with rates or units just the amount of time, which is 35% less (speed up meaning less time).

Are your eyeballs broken or something? Are you incapable of reading?

Nope but both of your understanding is conflating a unit, time with a rate unit over time.

Bruh, three different people have shown you exactly where you are making that mistake. Get a bloody clue.

Production time does refer to the time it takes to produce something, but the operative phrase “speed up” means that you are dividing that time by a factor. It is no different from multiplying production rate by the same factor.

Speeding up by 100%, means dividing the production time by 2, not eliminating the time altogether.

I have not made a mistake, you all keep conflating rate with time. They are related but not replaceable. Time is just time. You can keep repeating the same thng over and over but it will still be wrong.

I get it, you want it to be described as a rate change. But time is not rate, it’s time. The time is correctly sped up by 35%.

You don’t “speed up” the time. Time doesn’t have velocity. You reduce the time. Speed specifically requires a rate.

If it said, “Warpgate Research speeds up Gateway unit production time by 100%” it would be instant. That’s how the wording works. Not rate. Production time.

Rate is production over time aka production/time not time. The naming just refers to what the time means, it’s the time of the production. The rate will directly be related to time, the rate is the number of units 1 over the time it takes, so 1/28 is the rate but 28 seconds is the TIME and only the time.

As soon as you change it to 1/28 you change to to a rate, which yes is related to the time it takes, because it could be like zerglings would produce multiple units per time. 2 units per 28 seconds would be 2/28 but the production time is still 28 seconds.

Speeds up refers to the direction. For time it’s shorter time, less time. For slows down the production time, it’s increasing time, more time. Still time. Not rate.

“speeds up unit production time” is a nonsense statement. It doesn’t mean anything because you can’t speed up time, only the rate of something relative to time. You can speed up the rate, or you can change the time, but you can’t speed up the time.

I just explained how it refers to the direction that time is being affected. Speed up the time, means it’s shorter time. Slows down the production time means it’s longer time. Rate is different.

I agree that maybe rate would be less confusing to people like yourself and also more indicitive to what the end result is, but that’s the issue with percentages. Doubling the rate is half the time. Half the time is doubling the rate. It’s confusing, I get it. But it’s not incorrect.

No, you just said a bunch of things that were wrong. That isnt how words work, and it isnt how math works.

Time as a variable does not possess speed in any capacity. Speed definitionally requires a rate of some sort. You may as well be talking about the speed of the color purple.

If it took you 100 minutes to run a mile, and I said I want you to speed up your “mile time” by 35%, you wouldn’t do it in 65 minutes?

Not run 35% faster. Not speed up 35%. Speed up your mile time by 35%. You truly couldn’t figure that out?

No, of course not, because “speed up your time” is nonsense. Would you like me to repeat it again? Speed up your cyan mate. People don’t talk like that for a reason, and that reason is because those words can’t make a coherent sentence in that order.

Welp. You all carry on then.

Speed up your mass by 22%.

What do I want you to do?

“Speed up” implicitly implies both a direction and a change to a rate by some factor 1+x, where x is your percentage increase.

Translated to production rates and production times:

  • “Speed up production rate” means multiply the production rate by 1 + x%.
  • “Speed up production time” means dividing the time by 1+x% to get the new time, since you are focusing on the inverse (time) which is on the divisor of the production rate.

Either way, the production time is effectively divided by 1+x%. While this has the effect of decreasing the time it takes to perform an action, that reduction in time is 1 - 1/(1+x), not x.

On a related note, “slow down by x%” means that the factor is 1-x instead of 1+x. The rate is still multiplied by 1-x, and the time is still divided by 1-x.

That is absolutely wrong. There is no case where “speeding up by x%” means eliminating the time component altogether, regardless of the value of x. The value of the “speed up” is undefinable in that case, and the phrase should not be used.

im just gonna put this out there since yall are making the math more complicated then it is

zelot pre warp is 28secs 28x35% or .35 does come out to 9.8^ 28-10 is 18 which is after warpgate.

i may not be a mathemetician but i do know my math, as i have to know it for my business i run.

not saying your math is wrong terranic, but your using the wrong type of equasion for a simple percentage problem and way way overcomplicating it.

A-(Ax%)

ps, im still waiting to see that mmr for 1v1 and 2v2, and your entire ladder history uro, i would also like to see your match history so we know when the last game you played actually was.

After playing several test games.
I can’t decide whether having 8 workers is better or worse.

The start can be a bit boring at times. I don’t know if the variety of cheese is worth it or if it’s even available.
But because the economy doesn’t grow as quickly, the third base is delayed, and you don’t have to expand every 2 minutes.

Maybe they’ll find a way to make the economy grow less snowball-like without slowing down the early game.

I’m not sure about Ghost either.
