The main problem I have with this match up is outside of the unit interactions. (mass spash damage, unbeatable air army, shield battery forrest)
Is how easy it is for them to pull off any startegy in comparison to defending against them.
How many times do we have to fight a proxiy shield battery army
Arnt you guys sick and tired of that.
How many times do you attack into them only to have to retreat becuase they have a sheild battery. 2 units with a shield battery forrest can stop almost any attack in its track. A 3rd of toss early games have some type of shield battery forrest play.
How many times do we have to fight against a turtle toss player that goes straight to air toss and then A move. This is litterily what toss does for a 3rd of its games.
They don’t even care if you take the map. They just turtle to 4 bases. Nothing you can do about it even if you know it is coming. They just have to defend to 200/200. and its gg.
Is this really what the game has come 2.
the other 3rd of their games comes down to some type of cheesy play or all in. that can be 4 gate. 3 gate robo blink or what ever they do on 2 bases and walk across the map. It doesn matter if you know its coming. It will still be harder to defend than them to execute.
Hence lies probably my biggest issue with toss. its always harder to defend whatever they are doing. Even if you know its coming.
P.S toss units aren’t slow. voids arn’t slow. stalkers arent slow. immortals aren’t slow. stop saying toss units are slow becuase they are not.
Not all of them are slow, that’s why when you make a long distance movement your army ends being too spread out and you can get picked in the middle of the map.But the slow units are there, sentries, inmortals, HT, disruptors, stalkers (unless you are active with the blink, they are pretty average) archons, collossi.
Tempest speed is just normal/kinda slow, but its pretty misleading since other big ships are rather slow such as Blords, BCs and carriers. In terms of ship speed Tempest is near the mid of the spectrum, liquipedia says a bit over 3, slow units are about 2 and fast units about 4+.
Tempest is 3.15
Compared to T units:
BC 2.62
Viking 3.85
Banshee 3.85 (+1.4)
Raven 4.13
Medivac 3.5
Basically faster than BC and slower than any other T unit.
Immortal speed?, it’s exactly the same as the marine without stim.Collo, disrupt and sentry has the same speed too.It looks like 3.15 is the average basic movement speed because even the roach and hydralisk, siege tank… moves at the same speed. So the fastest unit is Chargelot, followed by Stalker which is a bit above the average speed (and slower than stimmed bio) and then the slow HT.Speeling is the fastest unit, and on creep Z units are way faster than the rest.
TL;DR: Tempest is not fast, its speed is average/slow.
I think I do understand your frustration somewhat, but the problem may be that the only splash that can be micro-ed against are: storm, disruptor shots, nuke, and bane.
Other splashes are instant, so they are easier micro-wise, since you cannot dodge them anyways. Being able to micro-away the splash may be more of an advantage than not.
+ batteries may be in fact too strong against (*early) ling runby, but who knows, got to check more Reynor games.
We have people that are M1/GM players call us ladder noobs for complaining how broken every PvX match up is and then go behinds everyones back hoping that no one is looking and say that get tilted playing PvX when they are the other race.
In the very next sentence plays with toss and says it is so much easier and that they could probably make GM. and at the very least get a higher rank than the race they mained for years. I could have done it but I dont want to relearn another race and go through that. not at this point. Even with that being said at one point my P was higher than my main… with no practice.
PvX is broken. instead of peole making videos on startegy and how to get an advantage here and there (pros and cons) We got people making videos about how to survive this how to survive that. You got to beat them before late game… or some rediculous statement of just dont let them get there like you have a choice.
We litterly got people making threads on how not to die to P before the 5 minute mark. What are we playing here. Is this some survival mode in Gears 5. Are we playing king of th hill were your health doesnt generate when you are at the top in MK 11…
I dont think so. We are playing an RTS game where everyone should have an equal chance to win at every stage of the game. however, We have videos telling us how not to die before the 5 minute mark and dont let them get to max army.
Shield battery forest is NOT broken. There is not an argument there. Everyone knows it.
Not very convincing aren’t they?
Here is better one from my previous edit:
although storm/ruptor shots are dodgable, to compensate that, they have much higher dps. So there are no damage disadvantage compare to other splashes, while adding an advantage of requiring micro from the opponent.
Shield battery forrest are the reason there are stupid startegies like void ray/tempest proxies. that is broken and should not be in the game. They are so broken that people are not even trying juggle immortals any more. just build shield batteries and forget it.
They are the reason that if you catch toss being greedy you cannot out right punish them. They get a chance to reinforce their position and get more shield batteries.
They are broken and should not be in the game. They give toss a defensive advantage with minimum units to attain it… this is beyond what any race has. On top of that it can be used offensively. this is broken.
Since the beginning this game is based on surviving things. The way to improve and ranking up was always learning how to stop things if your style was defensive, or how to doing them if you are an active player. Take boxing for example, before start thinking about punching, you must learn to cover yourself.
By definition if they are greedy they can be punished.
