Probius only VP

This is a follow up to recent Probius VP Challenge. As part of the discussion, it touched on whether it was a resource issue or a time issue. Instead of clogging on the topic with debates, I thought to provide my findings separately.

So because of the ‘resource vs time’ part of the discussion, it got me curious. So I did a game, as best as I can. My conclusion is still it is a resource problem. Here’s the replay:

Basically, here are the issues:

  1. There is no 100min at the very beginning of the game (or a field that can support warp-ins without ally’s help). And this psi field needs to be right where your probes are. As a result, you lose 1-2sec in-game time to place the Pylon, even if you’re quick to enter the ‘-money’ for 50k/50k resource on M’s maps. Note: the point here is no 100min at 0min0sec mark.
  2. Your control of Probius to carry Xenon Crystal to the Stabilizer is again 1-2sec off. As a result, the compounding times makes you lose by roughly ~1sec quite literally. :joy:

Here’s the math:

  • Pylon (25sec), Cyber (50sec), Gate (65sec), Star (60sec), Fleet (60sec), Robo (65sec), Bay (65sec). So the obvious choice is Pylon => Cyber, then any others after (especially since resources isn’t an issue per -money 50k/50k). Total time warping is 25 + 50 = 75sec
  • Purifier Conclave Research: Kaldalis (40sec), everyone else (60sec).
    • This can be reduced by your Chrono Boost. @30pts: 60sec / (1.525) = 39.34sec
    • The is already a 22.5% from base Chrono Boost + 30% mastery.
    • This also means total research time is 40 / 1.525 + 39.34 x 5 = 26.229 + 196.72 = 222.95sec or 223sec
  • Probius can be timed to arrive just as the 6th champion research complete, so there is no addition time here.
  • Grand total: 75sec + 223sec = 298sec

This lines up exactly to what is shown by the test itself. 298sec is quite literally 4min58sec. So between the non-100min@0:00 problem and grab-n-go problem, you'll always lose with an ally like Raynor, such is my test.

To add to the whole thing that plays in our favour, Vermillion Problem doesn't actually start its Stabilizer countdown until 2-3sec into the game. This is why in my 'solo replay' previously that had Karax, there was 7sec before 5min versus 10sec between stabilizer timer.

So yeah… resources remains your problem, not time. Time is a result of problems created by resources and maybe control. So in theory, this is doable for someone who has a very nice set up, where the game runs very smoothly. My 10yr old laptop simply cannot complete this task. Needles to say, proper micro and macro is a prerequisite.

For accessibility sake, here’s the replay done solo (but again needs Karax):

Hope all links work, sorry if it doesn’t lol.
