Not Available While Initializing Game Mode

Hi,

I’m in Canada and a Rogers customer. There was an outage a few days back that since it came back, has caused some major issues with SC2. Anything from join game errors, to the “not available while initializing game mode” and my co-op commanders being at level 0 and unable to queue for games.

I’m not sure what the issue is but the outage was a few days ago but this issue has ramped up in frequency since the outage happened.

Anyone else running into this issue or know of a fix? The weird thing is, it’s battle.net that has this issue for the most part. Most other websites seem to be working fine (Youtube, Twitch etc.)

In most cases I have seen, this happens when the game isn’t updated or there is a connection problem. Based on what you described, you may want to power off the modem for 30 seconds and then try again. If that doesn’t help, try checking for SC2 updates by clicking the cogwheel next to play or do a repair/reinstall of the game.

You could also try testing another network like a mobile hotspot to see if there’s any change.

I have tried powering off my modem for longer, rebooting my computer, using the gear icon to repair and even tried using a different hotspot and none of those solutions work. Any other suggestions?

Based on what you described there may be something on the computer causing an issue. You could try closing the Blizzard app and deleting the temporary Battle.net files. If that doesn’t help, try adding the Blizzard app and SC2 as exceptions in security software, or temporarily disable those security programs.
