Minimum level for brutal difficulty

why isnt there a minimum level requirement for brutal difficulty?

why do I have to deal with level 3 players in brutal difficulty? and then they say they dont know how to play their characters? why are they in brutal difficulty?

between this and the afkers it makes me not want to play this game at all

Answered time and time again. A low level player does not mean a less skilled player. It just means the tools at their disposal isn’t the usual set you may see in a m90 player.

I get you are frustrated that you had a probably less than optimal game because your partner is not very skilled. Yet, remember that skill and experience is all relative. Think of it as a challenge to improve yourself that you had to carry.

After all, I’m sure many other people who played with you had to carry you from one time to another. You don’t ever see any of the speedrunners ever say “god, I had to carry another player”. It’s part of coop I guess is what I’m trying to say. Don’t let it bother you that much.

just had most recent match level 1 stetman who spent more time carrying crystals that I did, not carry him by any stretch of imagination

this may be the exception not the norm though

That honestly sounds ideal. A level 1 Stetmann isn’t going to be able to field a great army, but the stetzones still make drones zip around the map in record time. I’d be happy to go nuts on the attack waves and not have to think too much about the crystals.

Because brutal isn’t very hard for a decently skilled player and it’s unfair to force them to level to 15 on the mind-numbing experience that is hard, where the game speed is a snail crawl.

I check what difficulty they queued. I once paired with a casual while I was brutal. Not the guy’s fault no one else was playing hard or below.

it bothers me because it keeps happening. i get stuck with awful low level players on brutal difficulty that have no business being there.

I dont care if some of them are good. because I constantly get stuck with all the bad ones.

at least require them to have one maxed level character or something…

I’ve level’d every CO I own from level 1 in Brutal.

You don’t need a level minimum because Brutal is really easy if you’re a decent Starcraft player.

Forcing players to play Hard difficulty when they don’t need to would just turn away people from Co Op that might otherwise enjoy it. Hard doesn’t even play on Faster game speed, it’s annoying to play on and forcing players to play it to level up their CO when they are perfectly capable of doing so on Brutal is a dumb idea.

Eh, that’d be fair for brutal+, but not brutal. Getting one commander to 15 is a decent enough “tutorial.” Requiring that to play on what’s essentially the actual “hard” mode isn’t a good idea though. I’m not even a high APM player and I was already bored of hard by, like, level 10 on my very first commander.

It does now actually, they changed it a while back.

No way is minimum level going to do much, I’ve played with many a player higher level than me that couldn’t handle brutal. Last time this came up I suggested capping the difficulty to when one commander gets to level 15 at most, more than that is just going to be a pain in the rear for anyone buying a new CO that knows that they’re doing.

Yeah, gotta tell ya man, it just means your skill level isn’t quite there. It’s not a fault of you or your partner.

Everyone will go through a phase where they “feel” they are that much better and having such a hard time dealing with everything in a mission while their partner seems like they aren’t doing a thing.

In reality, that’s rarely true. And as you gain more expertise, you’ll start noticing you can solo every mission despite this issue. You’ll get there, but just have to weather through this for now. It really is part of the growing up in coop, if you will lol.

How do you check? Did you just ask him or is there a way to actually check it?

Not true! I did a hard game recently to test something and it was so painfully slow. Unless I got queued with someone on normal?

Was changed in patch 4.11.0, same time Mengsk was released and Brutal+ was added.

Not sure what it was, then. Guess nobody’s queuing for hard and I got paired lower.

Eh who knows, an easier game probably feels slower too if one’s used to the faster pace of brutal as well.

Nope, it was definitely a speed change. It’s as glaring as coming back to 30 FPS after playing games in 80+ for months. :stuck_out_tongue:

Meanwhile im still trying to play on brutal and still getting stuck with bad allies (most of which are less than level 10) that completely ignore the objective and we lose. There still needs to be some kindve player quality control for brutal difficulty because its currently unplayable.

And while its true that not all low level players are bad… most of them seem to have no business playing on brutal whatsoever. So I still believe there should be a minimum level requirement for brutal (or at least a requirement that someone has a level 15 character).

I dont really care if other people get inconvenienced by having to play a few levels on hard difficulty; quite frankly hard difficulty seems to be where most people belong anyway. All I care about is me not getting stuck with as many bad players in brutal. Because its happening way more than it should.

Nobody cares about you too. I leveled up my first 3 commanders (kerrigan, zagara, stukov) up to 15 on hard difficulty. When I got kind of bored of hard(game speed there is kinda perfect, but unfortunately it’s too easy to be interesting for me anymore), I never played hard difficulty. Even when level up my commanders from lvl 1. The games I may lose was about getting some 200+ whiners that know a little about the game, and wasn’t listening to my advices and purposedly ruined the game, or when i got another noob from pvp that considers that my rank in pvp means something in co-op and ruin the game too. If you are too frustrated about your allies, I’d advice return back to hard difficulty, because you didn’t brought up your skills to the level where you don’t watch your ally commander level.
