Minor point, carrier interceptors are 15 minerals and start with 4 interceptors pre built. This means that the cost would actually be 410/250 compared to 450/225.
There was a unit created to fill the same role only to be way better vs protoss, and it is unsurprisingly way stronger than the siege tank and itās called the liberator. The problem with tanks is that they are a splash tool and protoss units just arenāt susceptible to splash for many reasons.
VS protoss you want burst damage which is exactly what the liberator is. Most units with burst damage fire slowly, but liberators fire fast. They are also flying, meaning their movements are unrestricted by terrain and they canāt be targeted by units that canāt target air (which is one of the greatest weaknesses of the siege tank). There is no wonder why the liberator is so insanely powerful especially vs protoss.
At no point did you specify that we were only talking about the golden armada. In fact, based on the units mentioned in our post (Stalkers, Colossus, HT, Zealots, Warp Prisms, etc), that is a very clear case of moving the goalpost.
Second, even Skytoss Armies use plenty of Zealots to pad out their supply.
You are simply mischaracterizing that game.
In practice, the Thorās anti-air attack is only going to hit a few Interceptors, even when those Interceptors are first launched.
Itās true that you might lose up to 3 Interceptors per Carrier if all of the Carriers start the fight stacked up, but after that initial volley the Interceptors will spread out and the Thorās attacks against them will become very inefficient (both due to wasted shots, and the small size of the AOE).
The Carriers are also still free to back out of the Thorās range during that time while still attacking; which will ensure that Carriers eventually win the fight even if they are down on Interceptors.
Sure, if those 2 Thors are fighting at least 7 Carriers that are all stacked up at the start of the fight. Otherwise the Interceptors will never be packed tightly enough for that to happen.
Edit: Actually, based on the speed and range of Thors, they are likely to waste their first shot on the Carriers and then the Interceptors may be launched and spread by the time that the second attack hits; so you need a ton more Carriers than 7 unless the Terran player was moving his Thors to prevent them from firing until the moment that the Interceptors were launched.
Since the patch, stats is 2-7 against terran players
It was over before it began for protoss - they legit reproduce asexually, therefore they are a race of incels.
