Its a strong showing, but as I and other people have repeated is that it is not enough to make up for the fact that we’ve won less than 15% of tournaments in the last THREE years.
Of course YOU think its acceptable, you get to see your race represented constantly at that level, but me and plenty of other people do not feel the same way.
Do you honestly think that blizzard is going to redesign the race so that it performs acceptably? If they didn’t do it during LOTV then what are the chances that this is going to happen now? If you think that the race is going to be redesigned at this point then I stand by my statement that you are 100% arguing in bad faith.
Your answer is to buff Protoss so that RO8 representation goes even higher than 42% just so you win more tournaments. And you say I’m debating in bad faith, lol…
Btw, I just realized you’re Shonix and this all makes sense now.
I don’t know how people can lose the ability to empathize with their fellow human beings because of the team they chose in a video game. Its incredibly sad to me.
I’ve played random throughout the entirety of HOTS up until LOTV, so yea it would make sense that an unbiased player can actually look at the game objectively.
Not going to continue arguing with someone that obviously doesn’t argue in good faith. Goodbye.
I’m still laughing over the fact that you tried to pull the “you don’t know statistics” card on me when I’m far more educated in the subject than you are. I can honestly say I tried but you’ve repeatedly ignored my comments and even went so far as to try some BS appeal to authority fallacy.
Yea like I said, imagine getting so worked up over a video game that you act like this to people.
Calling someone a whiner is getting worked up now?
I asked you to acknowledge this but you wouldn’t. You’re constantly deflecting from any reasonable argument and acting arrogantly about it. This argument is useless because you know you don’t want to debate in “good faith” no matter how much you say it. This is just another typical “Protoss needs buffs” whine fest.
I respectively disagree. Stretch has proven himself to be as dense as a neutron star a hundred times over in this thread. There’s no bother arguing with this guy, he doesn’t listen, he doesn’t make any sense, he doesn’t think before he writes.
Zerg: *dominates Protoss for 5 years
PPP: See! Zerg OP!
Terran: *gets dominated by Protoss for 5 years.
PPP: See! Protoss players so skilled!
Terran: *brings it up
PPP: See! Terran players whiners!
Aren’t you the guy who argued the mean of a distribution depended on the variance?
EDIT:
Yep, it was you, lmao:
FYI the mean of a sample can vary when the sample size is not adequately large to average it out. The distribution of the mean within a set of samples is called the T distribution. I explained in that thread that the mean of a sample can vary if the sample is too small, and you started attacking me, saying I was wrong and that the population mean depends on the variance, which is completely, factually wrong. Furthermore, the things you were arguing (which weren’t wrong) proved I was right but you were adamant I was wrong and you were ironically making my case for me.
Stretch knows much more about statistics than you do, my friend. You say he is denser than a neutron star but frankly I wonder if you even know what a neutron star is.
If you didn’t know, the barcode and the cheezecake guy are both a dude called Anesthetic and he’s a known troll who props up his lack of understanding of statistics with personal attacks. He also goes by “nomufftotuff” and “MrQuaggot”.
In a previous thread he started attacking me when I said a sample size was too small. The funny part was that part of what he argued was that the mean varies according to the sample size which is oversimplified but true. What’s funny is that he was agreeing with me yet attacking me as if I were wrong and what he said was against me. So in other words he was copy/pasting crap from wikipedia with no clue as to what it actually said.
That’s basically Anesthetic’s modus operandi. He pretends to know what he is talking about, avoids making any hard claims that could prove otherwise, and does constant personal attacks to distract from the lack of substance in his argument.
But if you go back in time a bit, it was enough for Zerg when soO was finishing second all the time… but now that it’s Protoss in this situation, it’s a big problem… that’s a gross, disgusting double standard.
I’m not saying that YOU specifically thought that, but I simply can’t get behind the “Protoss can’t win tournaments” QQ on this forum, especially after all the "but only Maru can win LIES spewed here. Protoss players need to step up their game like Zerg players did.
This is factually incorrect. For the past several years, Zergs have won ~38% of tournaments, which is nowhere near your claim that one race is winning only 15% of tournaments. If you are referring to premier events, I would point out the absurdly small sample sizes (which means the sample would fail a T-test), and the fact that premier events have strong multicovariance between non-balance variables, which basically obliterates any and all claims based on that sample, especially when you contrast against the larger samples that show polar-opposite results.
I’m checking ttps://liquipedia.net/starcraft2/Premier_Tournaments and I can’t see any time period where zerg has been underperforming as bad as protoss. Maybe like half year increments here and there but definitely not as long as protoss .
I was wondering when you’d showup. Thankfully you did my work for me, that thread you linked to is exactly the kind of reading material that would dispell the notion that you have any understanding of statistics whatsoever.
