Guys, I’ve heard there is an uproar about Protoss and the balance team is desperate for more Toss things to nerf. Does anyone have ANY idea what they could possibly nerf about Toss? Maybe the mothership?
My opponent has a 70% win rate against Toss and a 40% win rate against the other races, name his strategy! LUL. This game is far less serious than this thread.
I had to change my whole build order against Protoss just because of cannon rushes. Now I always go depot-rax-depot before gas just to be to avoid cannons in my main.
Before that I never managed to defeat cannon rushes, the whole pull 4 workers per cannon thing never worked for me.
Fortunately if you can keep the cannons out of your main it is beatable. Then you need reactor vikings to defeat the typical void ray/tempest follow up.
Everyone already knows the solution of add gateway before cannon. Blizzard just trolls the heck out of Toss to no end. They think it’s funny apparently to not do their job. Hahahaha.
If a person can’t figure out the cannon rush needs to be nerfed in P vs P, then they’ve never played SC 2 before. If we have to wait for GSL players to start using it in pro games, let’s just give a free win option to every Toss player on ladder who cannon rushes. They’re going to win, anyways. Save everyone 4 minutes. GM ladder doesn’t matter, anyways.
Who cares how many 7k MMR Toss players lose to 4k players if it wasn’t used in the GSL! Am I taking crazy pills here or is everyone who has ever played this game right? Jesus.
Cannon rush (CR) is pure cancer; I have to 12 scout every PvP to check for forge; the only way to defend CR is to make your own forge in time to get up defensive cannons. The other day, a 5500 MMR GM protoss told me I was stupid for 12 scouting forge because CR defense is easy; 10 minutes after he told me that I watched him get absolutely wrecked by a CR in a 2v2 game (that we were partners in) by a diamond protoss (even after I had 12 scouted the forge for him!). There is simply no debate that defending CR is 1000x harder than performing a CR, and that successful defense against CR puts you slightly behind at best, 99/100 times.
I feel kind of weird pointing out that I enjoy cannon rushes, both when I do them while offracing and fighting them off. Maybe because I used to play warcraft 3 a lot and it was kind of common to play them either with an ally orc player or against orc players, or rather their equivalent tower rushes. It was kind of funny that you didn’t need a pylon equivalent to make them, so if you scouted poorly you’d end up seeing a snake of towers approaching your main base form the fog of war.
It feels kind of refreshing, after playing a long macro game, to get into action quickly. Now, I’m not saying playing only vs cannon rushes is not frustrating, but once every few games doesn’t feel that bad.
Cannon Rush has been the most cancerous and broken strat since Wings, and after LotV it became way worse due to economy changes.
Guys, the definitive proof of how broken CR is lies just in our faces: look at printf for example (there are others), he’s able to defeat PRO PLAYERS when they already KNOW 100% printf is going to Cannon Rush and even then they LOSE. I’ve seen pros from all races losing to him.
Look at Has, a protoss player with low master mechanics, being able to defeat pros by only Cannon Rushing every game.
People veto maps only because of CR abuse.
This is more than enough proof it’s broken and cancer when you lose a game to BUILDINGS when your first unit isn’t even out yet on the field.
Unfortunately, Blizzard developers don’t play the game at a reasonable level to understand that CR is broken and cancer. It won’t get fixed unless someone wins Blizzcon by abusing it.
Guy’s, it’s not broken. I did it. I beat the cannon rush. It now only has a 99.99% win rate vs me this season. It only took all of the stars aligning in the game for it to happen. Guy providing a 1 hex gap or w/e between pylon and forge in his base. He then also got greedy and made forward cannons that weren’t covered by low ground pylons, allowing me to force him to cancel.
Proxy gateway + zealot + make an expand elsewhere + void ray. Watch out printf, I’m coming to take 1 game out of a million off you! Thank you Blizzard for giving me the chance to celebrate something so stupid.
I think gold cannon rusher is 10-20% of all player in game (if you don’t belive me you can check it by yourself). Nerf cannon rush will be all cannon rusher to uninstall game now. it’s nightmare for Balance team.
I’ve actually taken a break from playing due to this strategy. You play vs the best non Korean players in the world. All the points you win are hard earned. And then you lose -100 within 5 minutes (multiple games) to a guy doing a strategy that shouldn’t have even existed 5 years ago, much less now.
It never ends. Normally, when you lose to something, there’s some sense of excitement or w/e in how do I beat this! With the cannon rush… it’s like oh yeah… wonder why people are still high GM with this strat and have done it, exclusively, since the dawn of time? Oh yeah, cause there is no counter.
When the best P vs P % is always guys who cannon rush, and it’s not even close, is that really what you want the game to be? You want alphastar to just be cannon rushing everyone, every game?
Yeah, we got this super genius AI that can micro perfectly. It’s the god of SC 2… and it just cannon rushes people! Honestly, until Alphastar is cannon rushing every game, that’s how you know it’s still beatable/not worth the hype.
It’s infuriating. There is no counter play. Least skilled strat in game. Yet… all this talk about nerfing protoss, yet… another year without nerfing the most broken thing in the game. At what point do you have to say… the people in charge of the game are stupid, thus I’m playing a stupid game, which makes me stupid?
i dont see the problem with it in sc2. build 2 adepts, patrol on the bottom of the ramp, have one of your probes always scout your main, build two shield batteries away from the edge of your base. keep building stalkers and there, his cannon rush wont do anything if its outside your main or even in your main.
Your two adepts should always keep the probe busy even if the probe is outside your main, try to snipe it with your shade ability by surrounding it. You have to creep over 2 more shield batteries if he’s cannon rushing you outside your main. if he’s still trying to cannon rush you outside your main, you need to mix in zealots with the stalkers. You will have a couple shield batteries helping out for the initial cannon or two. You can also pull back to your other batteries, the ones that may have more energy.
I have absolutely NO IDEA what game you’re talking about. You can’t even chrono out a zealot to kill a cannon before it finishes. 2 adepts? I’ve NEVER EVER even seen a player make one adept when being cannon rushed.
What league? Replays? I’m so freaking confused. If only everyone in SC 2 was forced to play 10 games in a row versus cannon rushers in GM, no one would ever play this game again.
Normal/standard pvp build counters cannon rush. Like I said, gotta keep the probe busy. What I didn’t mention because I forgot to, keep it busy first with one of your probes.
How can normal p vs p counter cannon rushing, when all of these guys win 70% of their games? No one has ever made an adept vs cannon rushes, except you, so may as well post replays. Could have a defense named after you. Would be the first time ever in SC 2 that an actual build was named after the right person.
What you suggest is impossible due to the timing Cannon Rush hits in PvP and Photon Cannon outDPSing Gateway units. Cannons hit while your Cyber Core is in construction; there’s no way to get even 1 Adept or Stalker before the first Cannon is finished. You need to keep enemy Protoss out of your main until you get Stalker if you decide to do a standard build, or at least delay enemy long enough until you get Stalker, and even then you need to rush out an Immortal as Stalker doesn’t have enough DPS to deal with Cannons in reasonable time, especially since Cannon has around 1.75 the DPS of a Stalker.
