So last night I was playing Starcraft 2, and when I went to turn off the PC, I noticed that it was louder and hotter than usual. I just installed it, and WoW was running fine, with the exhaust being lukewarm at worst. Today I went to play WoW, and it was running a lot warmer than usual. I’ve heard that Starcraft 2 has been known for damaging graphics cards before. Could this possibly be the culprit?
SC2 tends to lean more on CPU than GPU. However, if your system is starting to heat up while playing (above approved thermal range for your card) you will want to check out the system itself. If it’s a desktop and you are comfortable enough, open up the tower, check the fans, power supply and clean it out with some canned air. If you are not comfortable with taking a system apart than let a local tech look at it.
