everytime i start starcraft 2 my computer crashes. first the game screen gets blurry then the computer restarts every other blizzard game works.

that suggests that the game somehow overloads your gpu. what is your specs?

it never did this before and only started recently

gpus gets worn over time. i once had diablo 3 “fry” my gtx 660 ti, even though it ran perfectly before and when it recovered, it got fried again by lego star wars 2 and then it never recovered. what is your specs?

what is vertical sync? enabling it on another game seemed to work could it work on starcraft 2 as well?

Hey, wildroger! Vertical sync aims to match the frame rate to the refresh rate of the monitor. If this worked with another game, it could suggest driver issues or its helping with manage some hardware issues such as overheating or overclocking from causing the system to shut down.

I’ts hard to say if this may help with Starcraft II as well, but I wanted to give you some options to try out if you wanted to enable Vsync within StarCraft II.

  • If you can get within the game, it can be changed under Options > Graphics.
  • If the game is not accessible, try checking if the graphics card manufacturer’s control panel allows you to set it manually.
  • You can also go under Documents > Starcraft II and edit the Variables.txt file. Look for vsync= and make sure the value says true if its false, change it to true.

Hopefully, these options help! It’s still recommended to have a local technician look into this issue as the system is restarting on its own it suggests major concerns with drivers or hardware issues to figure out the core cause of why its shutting down.
