Co-Op Mutation #232: Enter the Nexus

Moebius has deployed powerful clones in defense of its battle station. As if that weren’t enough, the winter snows have descended, which makes navigating the thick blizzards a hazardous endeavor. Make good use of your time to neutralize the battlestation.

Blizzard - Storm clouds move across the map, damaging and freezing player units in their path.
Heroes from the Storm - Every attack wave will be led by a random Hero of increasing power. Each Objective point is also guarded by three random Heroes.

Notes:

  • Enemy heroes escort both truck waves and regular attack waves.
  • The faster the players complete the map, the fewer enemy heroes there will be.
  • The Blizzards do not affect the players’ bases.

stetmann’s lings is great for Heroes from the Storm

I saw that video with the alarak ally using force fields at the ramps. What a champ.

Huh, what’s with all the Brutal 4-5 lately? :open_mouth: Especially with the new prestiges which (still) means lots of underlevelled commanders trying to get the maximum XP on public queue.

Are we going to get some easy muta soon?

The fact they have to go up the ramp, for once worked in the player’s favour. Kind of neat and ironic, considering you push up ramps on this mission.

Heroes of the Storm - yay!
Cradle of Death - nay!

Ya. I looked at the SC2 coop website.

In 4 years, there were only:

  • 1 Brutal +6
  • 10 Brutal +5

The rest is mostly Brutal +4, +2, +3 and +1 (58, 46, 43 and 37 weekly mutations).

Those last weeks, we’ve got:

  • 1 Brutal + 6 (ranked Brutal+5 because we don’t know the value of sharing is caring, but no mutators worth 0, we just don’t know the number and since the 2 others already give more points then the max of Brutal+5 , we can easily find out that Sharing is Caring worth 2 or 3 points.

  • 3 Brutal +5 in a row (wich is 30% of what we’ve got in 4 years) (and there are an other one coming soon)

  • All the rest until mid october will be Brutal +4

They really wanted to make us suffer after we tried prestige.

On an other note, compared to the others mutators we’ve got since 2 months, this one seem the easiest. But I don’t know “Heroe of the storm” so I might find it harder then what I though.

I’m just really curious here, Do Dehaka or Kerrigan ever get to be mentioned as Commander of the Week?
I see Swann/Karax once in a while but never the two of them. I understand Kerrigan might not get one but Dehaka?
An OP commander with extreme versatility on almost every situation not getting a mention? So strange.

It’s based off votes.

also just because it has a higher brutal rating doesn’t necessarily mean it’s harder. The ratings are based off blizzard’s internal coding.

Lets see if there are players in random queue who know how to move the truck.

We know that the combo means more than the points. That’s still a rating that helps a little. Like Blizzard described all Brutal+ difficulty, they made a system so that Brutal+5 and +6 will be mostly lost.

Eventually, difficulty can vary from person to person, this isn’t an objective things. One can find something hard and an other can find it easy.

But there are a mathematic one to help.

I used to hotkey it to 7 in the past, until I learned on this forum it is auto-assigned to F4 by the game.

Dehaka is an edge case of being a commander with immense power in standard games, while not being able to counter many mutators. He’s just about at the bottom of the pack – on CtG’s sheet Stetmann is lower but that’s nonsense, and Fenix is lower but that’s partly ‘wrong’ and partly should change now if players understand P2 well.

Kerrigan, however, is really good against many mutators. She seems to be middle of the pack on CtG’s spreadsheet, and honestly I think this is a bit low. That said, ‘Commander of the Week’ favours commanders who hard counters the most mutators, rather than who’s overall most reliable. This favours Stukov/Karax/Zagara excessively at the cost of Abathur/Kerrigan.

Did it as Vorazun with a Tychus partner. No prestiges.

  1. We encountered the Terran ground mech composition, and dark templars made quick work of them.

  2. Oracle stasis wards saved the day when I finally ran out of black hole energy.

  3. Nova is probably the biggest threat because of her nuke. I saved Time Stop just for her.

Commander of the week is also voted which means that it’s not necessarily educated opinion. It’s probably a bit better than average forum poster for those that care enough to find and vote in them, but still take with a grain of salt.
