Co-Op Mutation #230: Of One Mind

P1 slows Tychus a lot, P0 is perfect if you don’t have lone wolf.

The thing with tychus is, one mistake and gg, because if your ally reached past 100 supply you can’t recall back your devils (Tychus cost no supply but he alone can’t handle everything)

Made it first try on Brutal with a random partner (Kerrigan p3). I was Stukov p3. But i can see how its very hard and i probably was very lucky with my random partner.

Zeratul p3 doens’t even need units because Beyblade Zeratul is so OP; so you can just give all the supply to your ally and if you want just build mass cannon with all those spare minerals and spam voids.

This was surprisingly easier than it sounded. So much freedom to watch the boombots approach after the first 3 shards.

Completed it as P3 Zera (15) and P1 Vora (13) on first try. Went cannons and some free observers while my ally massed DTs with a few stalkers.

I hate Polarity so much

How do you guys calculate points? How to see how much points is a difficulty and how much points worth each mutators?

Same question.

Where do you guys see the mutator values in points? And how many points give Brutal +1, +2, etc. ?

Check out the SC2 Co-Op Guide to Brutal+ for this one. Essentially, all mutators available in Custom (except Vertigo) are given a point value, and a random Brutal+ game will choose a number of mutators with a specific total point value. The difficulty rating of a weekly mutation is thus reflects the fact that in a normal Brutal+ game, you could draw this exact set of mutators on this exact map.

Now, this doesn’t work every week, and this week it doesn’t because Sharing is Caring isn’t available in Custom (and thus in the Brutal+ rating, it is treated as having zero value). However, Boom Bots (10) and Polarity (7) already puts it above the Brutal+5 upper cap of 16 points, but short of the Brutal+6 lower cap of 19 points. So, if you find that Sharing is Caring is equivalent to a 2-point mutator, you can call it “Brutal+6” equivalent. (If you see this as equivalent to 4 points, then it’s “off the scale” equivalent.) But to experienced players, Brutal+5 is a fair assessment of the difficulty. (This is because Boom Bots and Polarity don’t interact with each other.)

That said, don’t be fooled into thinking that higher Brutal+ ratings mean harder missions. Although the hardest weekly mutations were north of the Brutal+4 range, combinations like Diffusion and Life Leech are insanely difficult for a Brutal+1, and there are some Brutal+6 mutator combinations that can be easily cheesed on certain maps against certain enemy compositions.

Oh I see. I was searching for it in mutators list and mutation, but couldn’t find it.

I finally found it! Thank you!

I suppose that only custom mutators have points because they couldn’t datamine the points value of specific mutation mutators?

And those points are given by the game? Like a Blizzard estimation on how hard a mutator would be (not taking the combinations in consideration) ?

I beat this with a few commanders (and random allies). I tried these:
-abathur p2
-stetmann p2
-artanis p0
-zeratul p3
-kerrigan p2

Abathur p2 seemed to be the best by far (for random ally queue anyway). You can make toxic nests for vision and then turn off the auto-detonate on them. This is plenty of vision for boom bots. You can then mass swarm hosts. This way, if your ally is slow to kill their half of the enemies, you mostly just lose free units.

Only the mutators that can be drawn in Brutal+ have point ratings, which correspond to the mutators that can be found in Custom, with the exception of Vertigo. These point ratings are given by the game, and there have been many posts in the past about how certain mutators feel like their point values were out of whack. (Remember that the Brutal+ today is a nerfed version of the Brutal+ we got on release.)

Mutators that were never part of Custom, including the Wheel of Misfortune mutator, the Sudden but Inevitable mutator, and the holiday-exclusive mutators, are not given a point value. To date, the most common of these mutators is Afraid of the Dark, but historically a number of these past “exclusive” mutators were made available in Custom long after they were introduced in special weekly mutations (eg. HftS, Kill Bots, etc.).

Vertigo is a special case due to the fact that it was used in one weekly mutation, people legitimately got sick from playing it, and so it is basically persona non grata to Blizzard and the community.

Tried two times. Failed in both.

First game as P1 Swann (wanted to try the laser) and Abathur ally. I gave him most of the supply and supported with laser, mass defense to hold the bots, and Vessels/Wraith for later. I have to admit that Swann is a bit slow to kill everything only with his laser (including splash) so we ended losing in the last 3 shards. He massed SwarmHost and was pretty good at them.

I switched to P3 Stukov and was easier. However, early game my ally didn’t tell me the code and I lost my compound and a bunker (basically everything I had). We managed to roll the rest of the map somewhat easily, and we agreed on destroying the last west base building (wich proved to be our undoing). The last shards proved to be very difficult because the bots spawned right there (making the defuse of the bots on time almost impossible). We ran out of time just before each of us could destroy his respective last shard. If we could have left the west base building alive, we may have won.

Will try tomorrow.

Oh, I see. Thank you.

So for the 9 mutators that were never made available in custom , and excluding Vertigo wich is no more, we have to guess their number value.

Sounds like a tychus lone wolf karax P3 thing

FINALLY.

Did it with P1 Tychus and with a P3 ally. I only used tychus for healing and Nikara for healing. Nikara damage buff is insane with infested, it helped so much.

Good question, which I am also curious about. I really would like to use the numpad on the right side of keyboard. During the mutation I usually ended up using my mouse to input the code which was super inefficient x.x

KelvSYC answered it. And go to SC2 coop site -> Ressources -> Brutal +. Watch the video there and read the page, it is really interesting and help a lot to understand!

Yeah, like expected another easy muta. Finally got around to playing it after being too busy yesterday, and made it on the first try, no problem.

Dehaka hero only and Stett p2 (also mostly hero only) made this so easy. I seriously don’t understand why people think they need armies (and vast ones at that) to win this. Hero-only works, or you can simply try some vorazun mass da with mc after reaching the limit, or karax reclamation if shared supply doesn’t give you a big enough army. But to each his own I guess.
